StopForumSpam phpBB plugin enabled

Hi all - wanted to apologize for the amount of spam that's lingered lately, I was under the naive impression the v3 google recapcha would be effective against this. It doesn't stop humans from registering and then activating their bots. StopForumSpam has been around for quite a while and is continuo...

Non-https images currently broken

Hi all - still working on the HTTPS side of things. Currently any embedded image not served from an https URL will not be displayed. The phpbb extension which re-writes non-https image tags is failing because of a configuration issue. If anyone has any experience using CAMO please let me know! Once ...

That's my understanding, after a certain point the cam angle sensor was added but the distributor signal was kept.

Re: Possible to control KA24E with CA18DET ECU?

Makes sense. You're looking at a lot of work though, but would pay back some novelty factor. The KA up to 94 (?) uses the distributor alone for the crankshaft position signal, after that a camshaft position sensor was added as well. For ignition you may be able to use the stock KA stuff or find a co...

Re: Possible to control KA24E with CA18DET ECU?

It's a niche forum but this is a super niche topic :D I don't think you'd have anywhere to start with but I'm not going to say it's impossible. Fuel and spark mappings would be different, MAFs are different, surely a lot more. You'd have to repin everything. I believe the KA ECU is 16-bit and the CA...

phpBB version updated to 3.2.7

Hi all, just wanted to let you know the forum has been updated to the latest version of phpBB. It's replacing version 3.0.12 which was released almost 6 years ago. Things will look a little different, it doesn't look like there is an exact copy of the previous default skin available. Feel free to su...

The captcha/antispam measure is now proven outdated, and the PHPBB version needs to be updated (ooOooO scary) before the new Google AI training kind can be used. Sorry about all the lolit...

I would agree, the head is probably ok but would definitely want to pay attention to getting rid of any burrs where the buckets go.

But man, it sure is ugly! Are these spots the only places with damage or does the whole head look like that?

Re: Start up issues

Make sure you're getting power to the coil, ohm it out and make sure it's ok. Check for continuity between the chassis and grounds on the head and those for the ignition coil. Pull up a picture/diagram of your engine harness and make sure you account for all grounds that go to the head. Unfortunatel...

Re: Crank Girdle in truck KA possible?

Not sure about fitment, but I know the oil pans are different on the trucks. Additionally, it isn't a good idea to use a girdle that isn't from the same block. The two pieces are machined together. You may be able to get away with it if you hone the main bore, but it isn't something I would like to ...

Re: Trouble pulling timing chain idler

Is there a way you could upload a picture or two to somewhere like imgur.com and share links with us?

The piece pictured at 13016 is definitely not fastened to anything. It simply slides into the idler gear and acts as its shaft.

Re: Trouble pulling timing chain idler

The piece 13016 is not attached to the idler gear in any way; chances are it's just stuck in there. The OD of the shaft and ID of the idler gear are very close to each other but not interfering.

Re: line kit for isis t25 replacement

On the stock oil filter housing is a 1/8" BSPT (not NPT) port - you can find an NPT to BSPT adapter and go from there. Another option is an oil sandwich plate which sits between the oil filter and the block, and provides several NPT ports you can use for oil lines, gauges, coolers, etc.

The ISIS and Greddy kit look to be about the same, I'm not sure on quality but I imagine they would both suit your needs. The Greddy does come with the hot pipe, this is the smaller diameter tube that has the ~1"(?) male nipple coming out of it. That's for a BOV. As mentioned in the description...

Re: npr piston set

I'm sure they are fine for a "stock replacement", but they won't provide the level of strength you would find in a set of forged (as opposed to cast) pistons. I would treat them like stock pistons, which, depending on the tune can fail below 300hp. Enough detonation/knock will be a quick e...

Re: Stock Transmission dust plate thickness?

On my first setup with a white bunny clutch setup, I ran without the dustplate fine. On my current setup I figured I could do the same. This caused the whole engine/transmission to bind up to the point where the engine wouldn't turn. I burned up a starter before I realized what the issue could be an...

Re: Starting my KA24DE-t build soon. Advice needed!

It looks like a good, solid start to a build. As far as CP/Arias, you can't go wrong with either although there may be a difference in the alloys used; one may be ever-so-slightly superior but I am not sure. If you are sticking with stock bore pistons, I do not see why you would need to have the eng...

Re: Rough Start/idle and Throttle response Problem

For finding vacuum leaks, a can of brake cleaner sprayed around the intake components is a good start. If there's a leak, it will pull in the brake/carb cleaner and your revs will increase. Bad ones can be heard pretty easily by the naked ear. Whenever I had this issue, though on an aftermarket ECU ...
