Thanks for the link, kind of a let down to find out that this is readily available cheaper than sourcing parts from junkyard. Flywheel $50, machining of flywheel $30, and as mentioned cluthc kit $400. Mind you with duty and shipping to Canada I might be able to squeak this a tad cheaper than what en...

White bunny clutch sort of
I currently have a modified 1990 D21 pick up flywheel bolted to my ka24de mock up engine. I have bolted a 350z clutch pressure plate to this flywheel and it seems to fit. Most of the references to this setup use a 300zx clutch which is 240mm but the 350z is 250mm. For reference purposes I drilled th...

I agree megasquirt gives you room to grow. However the initial setup and learning curve is high. I run megasquirt for my ka24de and I have no regrets. I have also used Microtech on a supercharged rx-7 it is a nice system to use. The trouble with piggy back and rom tunes is that if you never plan on ...

I use Megasquirt to run the KA24DE in my 510 it is easy to wire, eliminates things like the MAF sensor and now DIYAutotune produces a replacement trigger wheel eliminating the start-up problems. Tuner Studio makes things easy and if you run MSExtra code you can get things like launch control, full t...

if you think that #3 is misfiring change the plug for 1 amd 3 and see if misfire moves to #1 cylinder if it does not try switching a plug wire with a different cylinder. As for the noise in the distributor it is worth checking base timing, is the cap and rotor new from nissan or aftermarket? have se...

Can you verify the integrity of the wiring between the computer and the IACV with a mulit-meter making sure that you have no short to ground and that the wiring has continuity between the appropriate pins at the computer and the IACV? I don't have access to the wiring diagram, however have you check...

I think that incorrect timing and possible lean mixtures can cause heat, but also you are asking for a lot more from your turbo and engine in terms of power at the higher boost level, which means heat. I would suggest an oil cooler to help when you go back to the bigger setup. Also I like Water Wett...

Is the throttle plate itself clean? The engine relies on the throttle plate to bypass a certain amount of air and then the IAC fine tunes idle, if the throttle plate is dirty or the throttle cable is to tight it will not return to the same spot every time and the computer does not have enought time ...

I really have no brand prefrence for turbo as I have no experience with them, however I know that other companies must build turbo's comparable to a gt3071r and I am not so blind as to only look at a garrett, bang for the buck enters into the equation, As for streetable horsepower, I agree personal ...

I have found that th gt3071 from garrett will fit my build quite well however I may decide on a different company. I will look forward to seeing your dyno with the new turbo and be able to compare the two graphs. I am not sold on the gt3071r but am looking for a turbo that will give as broad of a powerband as possible while making somewhere near 350-400hp

Streetable Horspower
I was reading the dyno section and talking about 1000hp KA, when another member chimed in what is the point it is unusable power on the street. So how much power is considered truly usable horspower in a 240sx for street use. Ego's and bragging rights aside how much power with proper suspension and ...

heli-coil
My apologies I missed that he knew about helicoil. However if done right a heli-coil will hold. Stud may break but threads will hold. Biggest downside is that sometimes the coil comes out with the stud, but if the stud is not removed it is good. So lesson learned I will take some reading lessons.

Stud repair
Their is a product called heli-coil. You drill the hole to the specified size, tap it and insert the heli-coil, This method of repair they claim is stronger than the original aluminum thread. I have repaired many Nissan VG30 engines using this. I would look and see if it is available for the size yo...

Misfire
If your friends spark plugs worked good in the car and your new plugs don't it is very definitely a spark plug problem. Check which cylinder is not firing by pulling the wires one by one and when you find that cylinder change that plug.

I would make sure that you have an oil cooler and watch oil temp more than anything. Provided that you are not overheating the engine and detonation is not an issue, I would think egt will be wahtever it is going to be. I thought egt was more important in a turbo setup becuase of overheating the tur...
