Re: D22 navara ka24e
Plenty of turboed KA24E's in U12 Pintara's in Australia. Have you looked at www.antrx.com? The main difference, of course, is the throttle body and inlet manifold, but easily done on a Navara. I've got everything ready to turbo my KA24E 5 Speed Navara, just lack of time at present to do it. (Actuall...

Re: KA24E-T ROMs Wanted
I've got a bunch of SOHC turbo tunes from the old ECCS/hybridka, ECCS-tech forum. You're welcome to as many as you like.
You will need a rom burner (Willem or similar) or access to one to dump the bins onto some 27SF512's though.
Cheers.

Re: Coil On Plug Conversion for Stock ECU
Nice!
Can you confirm it works on a SOHC, as per your first post?
Though I would have to change my stock "coil-in-distributor" setup, of course.
Would you be willing to ship to Australia?

Re: D21 ECU
Oops, I was a bit tired last night (Oz time) and was a bit wrong there. The 5th gear switch just grounds/earths pin 45, so having no connection will make no difference at all. Cutting the speed sensor wire may make it go into "limp mode" (max 2500rpm). That happened to me when my speedo st...

Re: D21 ECU
Ahhh, an S13 240 (KA24E SOHC) ECU, I assume. 240's have a 5th gear switch that the D21 does not. From the FSM, the 240 ECU is expecting 6-8 Volts on pin 45 (5th gear sw) when the 5th gear switch is NOT engaged. (0V when engaged) Maybe because pin 45 is never getting this 6-8V, it is upsetting the EC...

Re: D21 ECU
FYI, U12 Stanza's with KA24E's have a high speed fuel map that is used over 68mph. This map is very rich and can make the car feel like it is loosing power, but not to extreme. Makes it use more fuel though! The D21 hi speed fuel map is very similar to the primary map, so it shouldn't give the symto...

Hi, a couple of questions to get a bit more info.
About how many revs does 68mph in 3rd gear equal?
Does it miss fire like a rev limit or just not rev any further, like it runs out of puff?

The other thing to check is your engine earths. The ones from engine to body.
Loosen them off, give them a wriggle/rotate and tighten them up again.

Re: Got her running and exausted the search funtion
I'd be checking the FICD (fast idle control device) unit mounted on the intake manifold. Get the SOHC FSM (service manual) here, http://www.nicoclub.com/archives/use-nicoclub-coms-factory-service-manual-database.html and go over the "Trouble Diagnoses"section. Things get a little gummed up...

Re: D21 4x4 Turbo Questions
What you need is a Walbro GSS342 with a 400-876 fitting kit for a D21. And yes, basically plug and play. I have a D21 .xdf but it is very basic with lots of unknowns. It has all the tables that are referenced in a dis-assembly of the code but not many explanations of what they do. It has the data fr...

I notice you don't have any of deviouska's NVSRAM stuff to go with his Nemesys software.
I have copies of it all and I can send it to you to add to the archive if you like.
PM me if so. Cheers.

Re: rating of stock e-fan relay?
Stanza efans run 30amp fuses from the battery with a standard Nissan blue relay to switch them.
Therefore, I would assume the standard relay can comfortably handle at least 30amps, but probably a bit more knowing Nissan would build in a bit of a safety margin.

Re: Electric Fan through Calum RT
The "S13KA revised.xdf" has fan temp entries but the xdf header info says "XDF for 1991 to 1993 B13 SR20DE or S13 KA24DE", so it may not be applicable to a 1995. Here are the entries: 250C - Fan Temp #1A 2534 - Fan Temp #1B 2514 - Fan Temp #2A 2538 - Fan Temp #2B 251C - Fan Temp ...

Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor. Connects to the ECU to retard timing when the air in your intake pipe gets hot.

Haven't seen you on here lately. You used to be busy on eccs-hybridka/eccs-tech IIRC
Some good SOHC stuff there, even though most members are DOHC.

Re: KAE-T Base bin
Riedell, your observations would appear to be correct. On closer examination of the U12 65E01 bin there are some differences in certain areas of the fuel & ignition maps compared to the S13 ones. Generally they are quite close, but the fuel map (0100) values in the 30 to 38TP & 3200 to 4000R...

Re: KAE-T Base bin
The "90StanzaMTFED.bin" (which is a 65E01 bin) has primary fuel and ignition maps that are very similar to S13 ones, so this would be a good base bin for you I think. You shouldn't need to paste in the S13 maps using this one. You can compare the U12 and S13 primary fuel and ignition maps ...

Device driver problem?
Maybe uninstall and reinstall the latest FTDI drivers.
Next, check the cables in & out.
Could be a wire has broken. Looking at your picture with the heat shrink around the board but there may not be much supporting the cables?

To quote the FSM, "The intake air temperature sensor controls ignition timing when the intake air temperature is extremely high, in order not to cause knocking." In other words, as intake air temps increase, the timing is retarded to prevent knocking or pinging. Most SOHC bins retard timin...

Re: KAE-T Base bin
I've found having the stock narrow band O2 sensor connected changes the AFR's at start up and idle. Because it's an old style non heated sensor, slow to heat up and stay hot at idle, I suspect Nissan allowed for this. I ran without an O2 sensor for a few months and with stock U12 fuel maps, AFR's we...

Re: KAE-T Base bin
With stock MAF, injectors, etc and 4psi, I would say no. Looking at the stock SOHC U12 & S13 bins, they are very rich. AFRs up in the low 12's and high 11's at the top end of the map, so no problem with enough fuel in a turbo application. Timing? You can always reduce the last few columns a bit,...

Yes, U12 xdf with stanza bin and S13 xdf with S13 bin! As you say, there are a few address differences between them. Fuel maps 2, 3 & 4 are in different locations. The IAT sensor conversion table is at address 0920 instead of 0630, plus others. Most of the S13 xdf's I have seen are DOHC ones, wh...
