Cam timing on my V3's are intake straight up, exhaust advanced 7.5* I'm not running Pro Efi. The owner of ProEFI Jason and his brother are arrogant pricks that I will chose to go another route and have no regrets. Do you have all the .drf's? (the raw dyno files) if so gimme, i'd like to overlay som...

Re: 502whp/ 428ft/lb 22psi

This was actually on stock cams, but i had some boost creep i need to address that before i get tuned again. Im debating about using the bc264's with jwt cam gears or selling and getting some kelfords 213-c (272/11mm lift) but since the ka isnt very rev happy, I think ill be better off with the 264...

Re: Turbo and price suggestions

My car is going to be a fun street car. I plan on getting a new turbo soon. The goal was to stay around $1,000 or less for a name brand turbo that will net me 500-600hp. My options are a precision journal bearing that will do it. But now I've been priced $1260 shipped for a new dual bearing garrett...

Re: Compound turbo

. Wow that's awesome! Thanks for posting pictures. I didn't know just how involved a project like this would be; I was thinking yeah custom piping, but clearly the piping is only one of the challenges that is a part of making everything work. How much of a factor is heat on setups like this? Is it ...

Re: Compound turbo

. JankiS13- nice, are there any tricks you could share for getting a setup like this to work well, like short tubing or positioning of the turbos? Oh and yes I agree, the quad turbo setup probably does add quite a few extra pounds; just one of those power vs weight decisions. Cham- Wow that's aweso...

Re: Compound turbo

I have helped build two compound turbo setups. They are hard to get right and take a lot of tuning, but are pretty freaking awesome when done. One thing to consider is weight, which is why that JZ setup is stupid. It probably makes the car slower because he added 100lbs to the front of it.

Re: Stock block reliability at 400ft/lbs

I bent all 4 rods at just 350 wtq. 3 were just tweaked, one was quite curvy. Also broke the counter shaft in the stock trans at the same power. Now LS1 and then it caught fire from old ass fuel hose. Can't win for losing. That's rough man! Bending rods at 350wtq makes me nervous! I have a 5.3 longb...

Re: Stock block reliability at 400ft/lbs

I ran for about a month on 500whp. I always felt like anything over 450lbs ft of torque wouldn't last much over a month. At 500whp on street driving, I checked compression throughout the month and watched compression drop from 170psi to 150psi on #4 cylinder. I thought that the rings didn't seal up...

Stock block reliability at 400ft/lbs

So, who has a stock block KA-T, and what do you do with it? Here's my situation: I have 4 KA24DE engines available to me, all of them stock. I'm looking for an engine setup to run for the last half of this year and probably all of next in as many drift events that I can enter, probably around 10 per...

For a beam to resist an applied bending moment, the material from which it is made must develop a moment over its cross-sectional area that resists the applied moment. An extremely thin beam has little ability to resist the applied moment (little material between the neutral axis and the top or bott...

The "X-beam" was first designed in the '50's for aircraft engines, and is basically inferior to the I and H beam designs. I'm not sure why Pauter keeps them around or why people still buy them. H-beam is the best design for longevity and strength, period. F1 uses roughly "A" or &...

You mean EGT? Its an argument that goes back and forth. I see what you're saying, but I doubt the difference is really going to be seen much, maybe 1-200 rpms...but the main thing he's going to have is better off boost power and response, not necessarily less lag. Also, just because he's running hi...

Faster spool is a myth. You will be making more power off-boost, thus it feels faster. Turbo spool-up time and rpm are not affected.

I will say it again. Cryo treating aluminum does nothing. And good luck shotpeening aluminum. Coatings will help whether you're using stock or aftermarket parts. Cryotreating increases wear resistance , not hardness. They are different. And it only works on steel and iron and it's alloys, which have...

You are correct good sir. The more power, the faster things go wrong though. Obviously a tune that is as near to perfect as it gets helps reliability a ton.
