How trustworthy is the knocklite for tuning purposes? I assume it would only be reliable AFTER the car has been properly tuned.

Monitoring Knock

What is the best way to monitor knock using nistune or any other means in an effort to find the knock threshold?

Tuning on a blow through setup

Does it matter what you use for a MAF if it's a blow through? For example With a blow through do I need a N62 MAF to reach over 300whp?

True, but all of the tunes are for the DET, I have a sohc... So I really need a tune haha. Also, where is the best place to purchase nistune? I contacted autovaugh but have not heard back from them in a few weeks.

I vote you should ALWAYS, regardless of the car, start from the ground up. What good is a lot of power if your car cant steer or get the traction it needs? Build the suspension to match what you will be doing to the motor, and plan in advance if you want a 5 lug, or spacers or w/e.

Am I right to assume I will need an adjustable FPR as well? Also, is a digital gauge the only way to monitor fuel pressure inside the car?

So I should, for now, play it safe @ 14psi? That is until I can afford bigger injectors? It will be my first tune, so I am going to start with an 8psi tune so I don't have to worry too much about anything leaning out. (I'm self teaching myself o.O, don't know why)

What else needs to be upgraded.

So, I will be replacing SAFC2 with nistune shortly. What do I need to replace on the car (everything not in my signature is stock) in order to run 16psi? T3/T4 .63 I should also add that I am currently trying to find a N62 Maf locally.

Looking for a nistune file - SOHC

Looking for a file that matches my setup closely. I don't care if the MAF is different, as that is easily changeable. Please see my sig. I will be getting nistune in the next couple of weeks, and will need a file as I can not find anyone local who has the right knowledge. As long as boost is between...

Yes SAFC...It can at least be setup to keep fuel where it needs to be until I can get Nistune. Everything came with the car for 1000$. I did not put the setup together, or it would have had Nistune from the start.

you can always just thread a screw into a small section of the vacuum line. Dont leave your lines long and dangling everywhere. Its just messy.

I have an aquamist kit on my evo. never had any problems. It has a flow sensor as a failsafe and if it starts to flow less for any reason (I.E. clogged nozzle) then it will cut boost to wastegate spring pressure. I'm using 2 nozzles. One near the throttlebody and one further down so it has room to ...

So, after purchasing this car and having nothing but hassle, it has been decided to redo EVERYTHING the prior owner did so horribly. And everything that should have been done, but wasn't. Starting with the frame, lots of rust to be fixed, holes in the floor, and rot on the rails. Also strut tower ru...

V mount?

So the guy I have doing the repair on my frame, suggested that he could custom make a v-mount setup since our radiator support is complete junk, and it would cost me the same amount. Anyone have any experience doing this on a SOHC? We have access to CNC equipment and both mig/tig welders so I assume...

Do those numbers sound accurate to what they should be? I never really had the chance to drive it because the brakes were seized up. Just put new brakes on, but ended up pulling the motor by the end of the night for a re-haul of everything.

Oil Pressure Drop?

So I took the car out for a little drive before starting the tear down for paint. Noticed that my oil pressure gauge held steady around 50ish PSI when I was on the gas, but as soon as I let off it would drop drastically (I think around 20PSI). Is this normal? I also noticed that there were many air ...
