Since you are probably not going to be chatting on Zilvia, I figured I would reply here. Your setup is almost identical to mine. Mine has been abused horribly for about 2 years, and she runs great. I saw that you are from Fontana. I own a company called Drift Buffet, and we have been running our eve...

Please help identify this wastegate
I'm scrapping the T28 setup in favor of a T3/T04E 50-trim setup soon, and a friend of mine had this external gate in his garage. The spring is exceptionally stiff, and a complete unknown, so I'd like to throw a 7psi spring in. Therein lies the rub; I don;t know what brand or model it is. It has no e...

Not that this needs any more fuel at this point, but I'll throw mine in too. I had a T25, and I currently have a T28 (t3/T04E on the workbench), The T28 is a better choice for only about $100 more. The T25 peaked hard and then fell-off abruptly. The T28 pulls more evenly to stock redline. My T28 hit...

I have an almost identical setup to yours (except T28). I did a little searching and found the settings people posted to be within a few clicks of perfect, slightly on the rich side (LM1 wideband). My afrs are now very similar to those Bill just posted. The only time I have to worry much about engin...

An adjustable FPR (1:1, not a rising rate, or FMU) allows you to bump base (0 vacuum) fuel pressure. This helps tune out a possible lean spot as you trasition from vacuum to boost. You see, a turbo can generate zero or near-zero vacuum at very light load, so for cars w/o an ecu retuned for turbo (li...

If you are a regular on a car forum, then you already know the asnwer is SEARCH. That said, 370cc injectors are going to be too small for 300whp. You are correct about the MAF, use the Z32. I would suggest 550cc injectors, a Z32 MAF, and an enthalpy ecu. Total cost for fuel (and TIMING) should be ab...

Yes, thats a problem. The only way for oil to drain from the turbo is by gravity. If the drain is on top, you will only succeed in pressurizing the oil in the cartridge and blowing the seals out of your turbo. Fortunately, you should be able to rotate the turbo CHRA (center section) pretty easily. J...

Do yourself a favor and keep as much heat away from the brake master as possible. Just this last saturday we burned the hell out of a friend's KA-T car (at the track) because he had his turbo too close to the brake master. You don't have to worry so much about the master, its the resevoir that melts...

Since you have to work on it anyway, I would take the housings off and measure the inducer and exducer diameters of the wheels. You can then look it up and see what trim the wheels are, and you can plot out a compressor map and see what your optimal boost levels will be. If you need help with that, ...

Don't forget fuel. For 7 psi or so, you can use an FMU (rrfpr) with stock injectors if you have to (I did for about 2 weeks, used a BEGi fmu), but a better choice would be an SAFC and stock SR injectors. I would also strongly suggest using an intercooler. This is all stuff you can get off of an SR c...

You are correct about the pulley and timing. If you set base timing with the OEM pulley, and then put an aftermarket pulley on, your timing would still be the same. I would bet money that the lower octane fuel is the cause for your detonation and subsequent engine failure. Thats not to say that you ...

Compression tests are most useful to show if your pistons and valves are still intact, and if your headgasket is blown. But an engine with badly worn rings and blown oil seals can still show good compression. A leak-down test will give you far more information about the condition of your valve seals...

yes, you can use DSM injectors if you get something to control them (SAFC for example) and a resistor box (they are peak-hold injectors, stock is saturated). You can also use the stock DSM intercooler, its actually quite good. Your manifold might need to be custom, so you might consider having your ...

Detonation (knocking) and pre-ignition are not the same thing. Let me see if I can explain it clearly. Your engine needs to fire the spark plugs at some point before TDC, because the fuel/air mixture takes time to burn. Typically the advance before TDC is used to achieve a max cylinder pressure some...

It is not uncommon for a race car with twin master cylinders (for brake bias control) to place them elsewhere. Some of the pro drift cars have 3 master cylinders, one for the front, one for the rear (with a bias bar) and a third for the e-brake (I've even seen two separate calipers on the rear rotor...

Torque? From the exhaust manifold on a turbo car? I think you guys are confused. Long narrow runners are good for torque on the INTAKE MANIFOLD of a naturally aspirated car. The Chevy L98 TPI is a classic example. Only 245hp, but 340lb/ft of torque. Why? Look at the intake manifold. The exhaust mani...
