Re: ka-t running rich, won’t idle or accelerate

I would say before going forward anymore to back track and start fresh. Purchase some new spark plugs, part number 4644 which are NGK's. (Plugs are most likely fouled by now) Don't start the car until you remove the SOHC maf and replace it with a DOHC maf. (They are different). Are you sure you had ...

16814 Pulsar Starter in z32 trans alignment

Whats going on ka-t. Ive had the excessive trans adapter kit for about 7 years now. Within those 7 years I would say I've been through about 10 starters and I rarely drive the car. I've gotten good results out of two starter until they burnt out within roughly 3-6 months. (I probably got lucky with ...

For your goal, you can get away with "stock" head bolts but ARP's wouldn't be much more cash I'm sure.

What Maf are you using? Generic z32 maf's that are on sale for $50 roughly? Isis generic line of mafs or an OEM z32 maf? Used New? Before you call Martin, record the signal the maf is sending to the ecu. Check FSM for test procedure. If you're on a generic maf 90% chance that is your problem when it...

Re: Filling bolt holes in cast iron

I've put this same manifold on countless budget builds. What I do is get a bolt that threads in with locktite then take a whiz wheel to it which makes it level with the manifold. I use the metal gasket then bolt the turbo down. The studs never back out because the turbo flange actually covers about ...

Re: Opinions on CX Racing Turbo Kit?

From my previous experience with eBay products and stock block budget builds. I feel comfortable with the following generic products: Cast forward facing turbo manifold from cx. (Won't spool as good as an equal length but it is better fitment and would never crack) Generic 50/57 trim turbo. (Drill o...

Re: Melted Brake Fluid Reservoir.

Back in the day when I was in school and working a part time at PepBoys (Poor), I melted quite a few resiviours and even one booster. I resolved the problem with a turbo blanket, put spacers on the rear of the hood, wrapped my downpipe and then wrapped my master and resiviour switch aluminum foil. A...

Re: A TRUE race bearing for the KA FINALLY!!!

What stuck out to me the most in that article was the Mixed Lubrication Test. As someone who recently spun a bearing, the test results of the bi-metal bearings look very promising. However, I spoke to my machinist today and he seemed to think the tri-metal would be the better choice. Wow, So I just...

Re: A TRUE race bearing for the KA FINALLY!!!

So I've been using the good old Clevite 77's in every rebuild I do which varies from 250whp to 750whp. There honestly isn't a main reason I went with the Clevite's other than its proven itself time and time again for me personally. I have roughly 10,000 miles on my KA which has a good 750whp and I'v...

Management Sensors and High WHP

How's it going KA-T. Like the tittle says, I'm curious with what sensors you guys are running on your builds that see about 600+whp. A few years back I made just shy of 750whp until the turbo grenaded itself on the rollers due to a vacuum line coming off the waste gate. To monitor the engine I had j...

Since your going on a budget route and you hopefully haven't purchase anything yet, I would say purchase a different turbo. Purchase a 50 - 57 trim turbo that's externally gated. Generally the "ebay" turbo's on about 7-10psi would last a good year until you start noticing a decent amount o...

Check to see if one or more of your fuel injectors are stuck open by chance. Do this by taking the fuel rail off with the injectors still plugged in etc, prime the fuel pump and see if any fuel shoots out. Fuel is not supposed to come out the injectors from just the pump priming. Hopefully this poin...

I don't think it's the FPR giving you the hard starting. Once the car starts to crank fuel pressure almost immediately returns to the injectors. It's probably time for a good old classic tune up.

I'm pretty sure every aftermarket FPR does not hold pressure after the pump is finished priming. (At least all my aftermarket FPR's did not such as: no names, ISIS, Tomei, etc.) Don't sweat it, its normal. Just start the car up during the second priming cycle and see if that helps. It should not cau...
