Most likely cause of rod knock is loss of oil pressure. Things that can contribute to it are: Bad or destroyed oil pump All the oil pumped into the valve cover by extended high rpms Oil pickup comes loose Oil pickup uncovered by all the oil being pushed to one side of the pan by cornering forces. P...

A motor doesn't knock from 8 runs timing chain could have been put on wrong to many variables but mine never seen knock in three years and makes great power No, the timing chain is fine (unless the tensioner is acting up or something), it sounds like its...

How tough are KA24DE's supposed to be?

I just got back from a drift event on the S14 KA24DE that I rebuilt and after one afternoon (about 6-8 runs) I have a knock now. I don't get it. People say the KA's are rock solid engines and yet my SOHC died from a knock, and now my DE has a knock that got worse over the drive home. What gives man??

is there a turbos for dummies page?

Something that explains what all the T3 T25 T4 T28 stuff is, what size turbos they usually come on, what all the turbo measurements mean, what turbos fit what application the best, and the average price you'd find one for?

The auto speed sensor has a shorter gear and it's pink vs red. They look identical plugged into the transmission. The 13 speed sensor has a long length of wire attached to it with a plug while the s14 sensor has the plug built into the side of it. http://www.240sxtechdvds.org/sitebuilder/images/spe...

just curious?...but were you able to resolve this issue? I replaced the MAF with one I found on craigslist. It took care of the problem for the most part. It doesn't die anymore, but a couple times it'll feel like its running on 3 cylinders or something or like I'm pressing the pedal 3/4 of the way...

How to tell an S14 manual speed sensor from an auto?

I need an S14 manual speed sensor because the S14 tranny I bought came with an S13 one...

How do I tell it apart from an auto speed sensor so I don't get tricked? I know the S13 is made of aluminum and the S14 is made of plastic, but I don't know how to separate the auto from the manual.

Alright, I guess I'll go with eagle rods. Might as well put in an extra 350 for insurance while I have the block apart. Does this also make my HP roof go up? The rods were the weak link in the set up and now that its upgraded, could I go up to 350 or 400 whp fairly easily? Stock head, ARP head bolts...

Do it right the first time or pay more for it later on. Point, blank, period. Yes. That's the plan. Hence the focus on reliability and doing it right the first time. My question stands. Is it unnecessary to upgrade to forged pistons/rods for 300hp with a JWT tuned ecu and will it be reliable? If it...

So as most other people here I plan on going Ka-T sometime. Right now the S13 has a blown SOHC in it and is awaiting a DOHC. I plan on rebuilding a DOHC, putting it in and running it N/A for a while. Here is the list of things I'd do during the rebuild so the turbo install can go smoothly (shooting ...

Don't drift on the street, not only is it dumb but you'll hit a curb and nobody likes that. If you can't get to a track, at least find a huge parking lot with nothing around. Turn the wheel to full lock in 1st gear and do very slow circles. Once you feel comfortable push in the clutch for a second,...

I just got my 240 running and put a welded diff in. I've been trying things out on the street but not seeing much progress. With the welded diff I can almost get the back end to slide out in first gear merely by pushing the gas pedal to the floor On the street at 20-30 mph I've tried a few clutch ki...

i only needed to read the first sentence. you got air in the system, thats probably obvious. you need to jack the front end way up and make a funnel that tightly fits into your rad cap. you gotta run it, stop it, add more, repeat.... this take like a solid 45 min every time i do it. works everytime...

1995 S14 240sx Stock KA24DE Is there a way to test the wiring or the MAF itself? Sometimes the MAF works and the car revs higher than 2500 rpms and sometimes either the MAF will die or something and it'll "die" until it drops back to 2500 rpms. What is the best way to test the MAF wiring? ...
