Re: First Car and First Build: S13 DD Ka-t

At TDC the single row chain should line up the dot with the colored link but the double row cam chain will most likely not be lined up. As for NA vs turbo after rebuild I would suggest starting out NA. There is obviously something wrong with the car and someone else put it together so it could be ab...

Re: Oil reloc and cooler kit

I purchased that exact kit but haven't run it. At the very least I figured I would get some decent parts for cheap. Seems to be decent quality for the most part. The lines are rather long so they will have to be cut and redone, also the AN fittings on the cooler are cast into it and rather grainy wh...

Re: 500hpka240sx's build

Glad you like the depowered rack. If you want you can eliminate the crossover tubes since you notched the valve. You can cap them with jb weld or weld the old fittings which is what I did, just gets rid of more unnecessary stuff. Did you notice while driving straight there seems to be a little play ...

Re: Diesel240's Kaizen S13 Build

Glad to see you made it out alive (or rather just not up the creek, at least). I am with supa on doing one's own tuning though, if you can! The understanding from learning how to do that is truly invaluable and can save you hundreds or thousands if you take your time and ease into it. As far as the...

Re: Diesel240's Kaizen S13 Build

Did you have your head decked and block resurfaced? its possible to much was removed and you are running a stock thickness (not exactly sure how thick the felpro one is) head gasket instead of a thicker comitec?? I did think about that, i had both the head and the block resurfaced. The head was vir...

Re: throttle cable slack

Are you running a SOHC cable on a DOHC? I am and it works out great, I run it underneath the intake manifold and made a custom mounting bracket for it out of aluminum. Pretty cheap and easy only took about 20 minutes, you also have the cable tucked away which is a nice perk. The cable rubs a little ...

Re: Diesel240's Kaizen S13 Build

yeah seems like hit or miss with the felpro. Hey I saw you got the PCV ports on the intake welded up..i've heard a couple people say that doing that will cause the car to run weird..I'm not sure why it would since its just venting crank case vapor back into the system? I want to get rid of all that...

I was going to run a felpro gasket but everybody that I talked to in person said to run an MLS unless you're gonna keep it under 5psi... And who does that? I say ditch the felpro, I've HEARD you can go high hp with em, but I SEE pictures of blown felpros all the time... Just food for thought Yeah, ...

Re: Diesel240's Kaizen S13 Build

I filled up each port with some degreaser and let it sit for a few minutes, no leaks. I don't know if I should let it sit longer or not to test better. I am also confused about why the valves hit. The mechanical timing was correct, I could rotate the block freely by hand with no issues, also it look...

I have to agree with your decision to start out N/A I made the jump much to fast. Power is intoxicating and now I am paying for it, hopefully I'll get back on the streets this summer yet. Re: Another dumb catch can??

^^^ good post there are many opinions but what makes sense to me is at the very least you want a barb fitting in your PCV and both valve cover and PCV vented off in an unrestricted way which is how I chose to do it. This will relieve the pressurized system allowing it to return back to atmospheric p...

He351cw sounds like it's the popular vote, after researching it was either that or a hy35. A little tuning...
