Re: My 94 Hardbody project (83 RX7)

Thanks Supa.. Today I took a trip across the street to the gas station for the first time and filled her up with some fresh 91. Everything is finally working properly. I was having issues with the alternator not charging, I ended having to get it rebuilt, bad regulator. And today I went to the local...

Re: My 94 Hardbody project **RELOADED**

WELL, everything is working properly as far as engine management goes, but I can't crank over the engine enough to get it to start. My starter is on its way out and I will have one in tomorrow then hopefully it will fire right up. I know it is not the battery, I replaced mine with a known good batte...

Re: My 94 Hardbody project **RELOADED**

It's been a while since I have posted on this thread, but I am back in the states, have been for a little over a month now and have been working on the car pretty much non-stop since then! I have a lot of pictures to share, and i will upload them at a later date. All i will say now is that everythin...

Re: A Newbie and his '94 Hardbody

The large diaphragm you took out is actually for the PAIR system. I believe it puts air into the exhaust system to help the cat run efficiently. I still have my hardbody hood sitting in my basement for what ever reason so i checked the sticker.. lol I have ran my KA with no emissions or even idle co...

Re: A Newbie and his '94 Hardbody

Nice progress. I believe that large thing you took out is part of the egr system and it operates the valve maybe? I think there is a sticker on your hood that shows the parts of the egr system iirc. There should be a metal tube going from the back of the intake manifold, behind the engine, and over ...

Re: A Newbie and his '94 Hardbody

Reminds me of when i first turbo'd my KA, same red truck with that same manifold! The ac is not hard to take out, just take out what is in the way for a turbo then take out what the hose you removed is connected to (condendsor in front of radiator) and the compressor can also comeout. you will be ab...

Re: My 94 Hardbody project

I have made a lot of progress with the RX-7 since I last posted. The KA is completely mounted in the car and the hood still closes. I put in a lot of hours over Christmas break. I decided to go with a brake booster delete so there would be enough room for a down pipe, re-bent the lines to connect to...

Re: ka24de/e stock ignition cure/map.

If you are using a MegaSquirt, grab the timing map from the MSPNP base maps. http://www.megasquirtpnp.com/mspnp2_maps.php We didn't try translating the stock map into MegaSquirt format; they were generated by dyno tuning relatively stock engines. Awesome, Matt! Great link there, i'm not sure how i ...

Re: ka24de/e stock ignition cure/map.

Great, now I have something to base my single cam maps off of, not just random guessing! 8) How does the load relate to psi or kpa? Any conversion that would be useful? EDIT: My only concern now is the drastic differences I have noticed in the mid rpm, mid load range compared to my map that I beat t...

Re: What is stock ka24e ignition curve?

I too have failed to find any stock ignition map for the single cam. One would think that the map should look similar to the dual cam being that it is basically the same except for spark plug location and the fact that there is 4 valves per cylinder instead of the single cam's 3 valves per cylinder ...

Re: Recirculated my waste gate :-)

I need to do this... My single cam is only running about 7 psi and it's just obnoxious. Loud screaming from 2700-3000 up to limiter at 6k. It was pretty awesome at first but it definitely get's old. As soon as I get the engine swap into the rx7 done, that's the next project on the list. Nice fabrica...

Re: grinding/rattling on deceleration at 2500 to 2200 rpm

I think I also have this "problem" in my hardbody. I wouldn't call it a problem because i just hear a slight rattling when i'm idling (different from the timing chain) and when i push in the clutch, the noise stops. Now you would think that the throughout bearing was bad, but i have a bran...

Re: My 94 Hardbody project

I'd maybe try some ospho in a few areas to get an idea of how bad the rust is. When I go home over thanks giving I will check it out in a few places to see just how much actual steel is under all that rust. I think the chassis on the whole thing is pretty much screwed... I will also take some pictu...

Wrong resistor for the 12v pull up.. I guess I will rely on the bands of the resistor and not an ohm meter next time since I apparently don't know how to read one lol. Replaced the resistor and then I just had to get my distributor back in and figure out ...

Re: Wiring Hall Effect sensor?

The V2.2 Stim can't simulate a toothed wheel, just basic trigger. It sounds like the input circuit in the ECU is working. I'd try spinning the distributor by hand with the key on and engine off, and check what voltage it's sending to the MS. I didn't see this until after I sent you an email matt, s...
