Re: Looking for a tune for my s13 KA-T

Why are you running a MAFS with your megasquirt?

The base tune on the DIY website should get you started once you scale the injectors.

Re: DIYPNP Megasquirt COP misfire

As far as I know, yes. As long as its just at idle, It shouldnt hurt anything to test at idle.Hopefully you left enough slack to just swap your COP connectors around. I am guessing you are going to know instantly if this solution works because she is just gonna purr... Once you get your car tuned, s...

Re: DIYPNP Megasquirt COP misfire

The distributor spins backwards (counter clockwise). As far as I know MS firing order just goes in order of A-B-C-D, etc. So, I think you should be set to A-1,B-3,C-4,D-2.

Re: DIYPNP Megasquirt COP misfire

Hi,
I run the MSPNP2, but not with COP setup.

Just to cover the bases, you set the base timing (with fixed advance to whatever you decide, I used 15 deg)?
And you are 100% sure that your firing order is correct?

338HP/337TQ on E85 @ 15PSI

Hi All, I wanted to share my Dyno/Build with everyone. Namely because it was the kind of info I was looking for when doing my build but I was not able to find. Generally, the two groups on here seem to be the ones really pushing the power envelope for serious racing or the persons looking to “Turbo ...

Re: what mounts are you guys using?

I filled my mounts with Flexane 80. They still have some vibration insulation properties vs solid. But they keep everything nearly motionless even clutch kicking in 3rd/4th gears. Plus, Its CHEAP compared to aftermarket mounts.

I think you can just buy some Toluene at the hardware store and do exactly the same thing. It will almost definitely be cheaper. Just make sure to keep it off your paint.

TEFLON coated piston skirts

HI, I am at the very end of my build (At least financially speaking). My engine builder suggested that I have the piston skirts coated with TEFLON due to some minor scuffing caused by the poor quality of the previous owners build. Why anyone would spend $500 on pistons, $800 on rods, and then skimp ...

Re: airman's build - **strange transmission issue? 7/18**

My preferred method by myself is the olde faithful lay on the back, tranny on the knees, try not to slip and drop it on the family jewels method. My car used to shred 3rd every couple times I went to the track so, I only got fairly proficient at this method.

Re: Need advice on next step, interesting oil pressure issue

I think the relief valve just vents internally back to the non pressurized (oil pickup) side of the pump. Meaning, it would just be pumping in a very small circle without going to the oil filter or back to the oil pan. If you want to verify the oil pump is pumping, I would just put your dowel or wha...

Re: Need advice on next step, interesting oil pressure issue

I just had a very similar experience. Everything was fine then all of the sudden, ZERO oil pressure. Like you, I noticed immediately, so my motor suffered no ill effects. Mine was due to a faulty relief valve. Even with the filter completely off, no oil was coming out. Even after I disassembled the ...

Re: airman's build - **strange transmission issue? 7/18**

Just out of curiosity, did you confirm if the clutch is uncoupling properly? I would put the car in gear, depress the clutch pedal and have someone try to spin the wheels (assuming you have an LSD). If it hangs up and tries to turn over your motor with the pedal in, you found your problem. I have se...

Re: HELP: Distributor timing for 248 248 cams?

I did DIY cam gears to degree my 264's. My exhaust is spot on with cam card but my intake is off slightly. This was using a vice, punch, and hand drill. It is not for everyone but I like doing things myself. If they would have been off greatly, I would have coughed up the $150 for gears. I did esse...

Re: HELP: Distributor timing for 248 248 cams?

I believe most people on this board who run this setup have already done this but just in case. You will definitely want to buy or make adjustable cam sprockets that will adjust your timing to a more appropriate 3 teeth +5 degrees. The DIY mod is very easy and if you already have your cams out it wi...

To set my timing, I just put a small alligator clamp with wire on the starter solenoid positive lead, put the key in the "Run" position, then touch the other end of the wire to your positive battery terminal.

UPDATE: As expected, HG is still leaking after retorquing to 68ft/lbs. So, it looks like the motor is coming out for the 3rd time in 6 months. And the head and block are going in for machining so that I can run a MLS HG. I assume that the pistons have to come out for machining. Do the crankshaft, fr...

If you just want to see if the pump is primed and working, you can also unscrew the oil filter just enough so the gasket on the bottom of the filter is not touching. Then have your buddy turn it over for a few seconds while you are watching from below. If you don't have a handy bud, you can put a ju...

Thanks again for the help, compadres. I ended up following Airman's advice. Checked a rod cap, replaced the oil oil pump cover with one from one of my parts motors. Everything looks great now. It seems like even when the relief valve fails, it does not stick completely open. So, there was some oil flow. Luckily, I noticed the pressure d...

I wonder if they can do it with different injector and MAFs plugs for the same price.
