Re: Cheap Turbo manifold options
the OBX option is great, it will save you some bucks because it comes with the downpipe and wastegate all welded up and uses the Tial 44m format wastegates. It bolts up to stock exhaust locations and will get you a nice setup requiring no welding. Its probably good to 350hp maybe a little more. its ...

well the car is still running great, the smaller turbo feels fun and just as powerful, kinda weird. its a considerably smaller compressor wheel with the same size turbine side and housing. The sound is more fun too. Piston slap is still driving me crazy lol... going to change our the tranny very soo...

Re: grinding/rattling on deceleration at 2500 to 2200 rpm
My theory is those RPMs hit one of the resonant frequencies of our chassis/heat shield/anything. I too experienced that in my last s13 and never sorted it. To me it sounded like the buzzing that'd come from a vibrating heat shield ringing on the exhaust somewhere but I couldn't find the culprit. I ...

well there is no way that could not have happened. I'm sure there was some metal travel through the motor, but small amounts of cast aluminum are gonna be relatively harmless, theyll just fly through the motor, especially with the high fluid velocities. Anyway, update, Got it back on the road doin s...

Turbo rebuild question
Anyone around here have experience rebuilding turbos? So far I have rebuilt two without issues. However, this time I'm having trouble with the turbine binding with the housing, the housing and turbine are in good condition. They are of the same Garrett specs and are compatible. I'm not sure what is ...

first of all, you will not being running "crappy gas" unless you want to quickly destroy your engine and throw money out the window. 6 octane points are enough change to cause major detonation, if you retard your timing you're losing major power totally countering what you just spent all t...

I seriously doubt that your walbro 255 is not delivering enough fuel. I have one and it was pushing 50 psi of e85 at 19 pounds of boost and still have some room.

yeah, that may be a good deal. I would just look it over to make sure that it is in fact a precision ball bearing turbo through and through. Because it is hard to believe that a $1500 turbo would be sold for 300, especially when he could get 5-7 hundred on ebay, quickly.

well, the stock ecu will at the least need to be flashed. Most shops are not capable of doing this on site. Tuning shops will have laptops ready with appropriate software, but hardware changes are going to need to made by you. you have quite a few choices, anywhere from piggybacks to stock ecu flash...

Re: s13 coupin
well, if you want to use all those cams, and intake, you might need a larger compressor housing, especially for a goal of 500 hp. Ahh, but then again you might be there. Thing is, you can have a turbo that CAN make 600 hp but the volumetric efficiency of the engine is what will determine the final p...

it would be very difficult to sand at home, you would have to have a plane sander, big wide belt sander that could sand it all at once to make sure that it is perfectly flat and it should be done with a grit 320 or higher. The cometics and cosworths both have a viton rubber coating to help with les...

Re: The Zenki KA-T build thread!
Here's the Isis line that blew, and I found the source of the vibrating/oscillating steering wheel. I knew it had to be in the wheels, because it felt so isolated to the wheels, the car itself felt stable and none of the vibration really transferred to the car. Anyway, upon researching the issue som...

No i don't have a short throw. It may be normal, but it didn't come about until I started changing stuff. But I don't know what else it could be. It sounds like it's coming from the transmission, though. In fact, I ran the car without the shift boot so it was really loud and sounded like it was the ...

grinding/rattling on deceleration at 2500 to 2200 rpm
I found this problem reported all over the internet like a thousand times. It seems that is starts if you change ANYTHING in the drive train, and it on the 95-96 s14s. I have this very specific weird rattling in the drive train only on deceleration starting at 2500 and goes to 2200 rpm and abruptly ...

Re: Pistons with valve reliefs necessary?
The KA motor is an interference motor. however, it is timed as such that valves will not ever collide with pistons(when timed correctly). The small increase in size of valve will not effect this. valve reliefs have pros and cons, pros are you are less likely to bend valves, however some say at high ...

haha, yeah you will like 350 but you will want more. You should start at a low amount and get it fine tuned and learn what you are doing with tuning, getting the AEM is best thing you've done to your car. The second best thing you can do is to learn how to tune it. Then slowly max out your current h...

Re: The Zenki KA-T build thread!
It was the high pressure line, the Isis SS braided line was rubbing the chassis. Once the stainless was rubbed through it just exploded under pressure. I am replacing it with a line I made up at my local race shop, black and green air line rated for insane high psi and is much thicker. I will be bra...

Ok, a couple of things. 740s will net you a solid 350 or so, you wanna hit 400 and above you'll need at least 1000s. Good thing it's a summer car, e85 and cold don't like each other. Yes, there is a problem with letting e85 sit, it congeals. It will cause a lot of grief and I would not trust additiv...
