Re: Who wants a KA-T BAD!
This is a cool thread. Funny to read some of the older ka-t.org members post up their excitement for results. I'm back in the waiting game as I correct some cut corners and work my way towards a better build. I wish I just went standalone from the get-go but wimped out because of cash even though it...

Re: bmaddock's Convertible Build
10/30/2014: Had some trouble this past weekend too with my choice in poor heat shielding. On the way to Blacksburg for Car Club at VT car show, heat wore my spark plug wires down so I had to get off the highway with a sputtering engine, replace the plugs and wrap them in DEI's heat shielding. Then o...

Re: bmaddock's Convertible Build
10/21/2014: Well, solid weekend at DriftValley. The car did not perform how I would have liked it to but a fun time nonetheless. Spending long nights prepping for an event the nights before meant adding a power steering cooler, changing out the steering rack, adding steering angle spacer, installing...

Damn, older thread but just checking up on it to help someone out on Zilvia. I feel super young now that I'm seeing some ages haha, I'm 23 but ready to start building a true ka-t.org quality build. I'll hopefully be posting on here more frequently soon.

Datalogging with an AEM Wideband
Hello all, I need some confirmation on how to datalog an OBD1 S13. I've done some research but am still unsure of how exactly I can link AEM wideband AFR readings to the other parameters from the ECU. From what I've learned: Nissan OBD 14-pin => Consult Tool 14-pin to RS232 => RS232 to USB converter...

Re: Blow through maf users check in
Yes but no. I'll see 13.2 every once in a while at full boost but I do have an exhaust leak pre-wideband I want to fix first before I report on this. Maybe it doesn't make sense but I would think a pre-wideband exhaust leak would leaner readings. Last resort I'll have to revise my tune once more wit...

Re: Any reviews on Five 0 Motorsports?
Thanks for the review, any idea on how many miles you've put on them? Do you know your duty cycle by chance? I've put around 5000 miles of daily driving on them so far, so not much. I don't have a data logger just yet but if I had to make a guess it's around 70% duty cycle at peak output. I made th...

Re: Any reviews on Five 0 Motorsports?
I have used 550cc FiveO Motorsport injectors and they seem to work just fine. Unsure of how long the PO used them but I haven't had issues with them. I replaced the o-rings when installing them and they all check out at 11 ohms.

Sweet build thread! Sure this ka-t.org and all but I'm most interested in how you painted the car and got such good results? Any tips for your garage paint job? Was that done using a paint spray gun?

Re: First start Attempt/Results!
Change your oil, and get proper ECU management. +1. I know it sucks dumping fresh oil but fuel in your oil is not a good idea, better safe than sorry. Don't half ass the setup and run on stock ecu on upgraded injectors. Think of the ECU, injectors, and MAF as one component in terms of idling condit...

Also don't mind the poor formatting that isn't transfering well. I will be fixing this later today but right now I'm running to work.
Please, let me know if adding anything else or being more clear in certain spots would help. I really want this to answer a lot of questions.

Re: How to turbo a KA24DE with a ~250-300whp goal
Install Diary: Day 1: I had issues installing the turbo manifold as the exhaust studs hit the manifold's turbo flange. I had to cut the stud shorter. Also had the downpipe hitting a brake line coming off the brake master cylinder. To solve this I acquired an S14 5-speed, non-ABS brake booster as opp...

3. Ensure health of the motor and no leaks [/b] Now that you’ve installed all the parts you can without actually installing the turbocharger, make sure everything is running correctly. Make sure you’re not leaking fluid because this will just make this experience far more painful than it has to be....

How to turbo a KA24DE with a ~250-300whp goal
I wanted to write a well documented, spoonfed explanation of how to turbocharge your KA24DE. A short caution must be taken as this is by no means the only way of reaching this goal but due to certain deals on parts and plans for more power down the road, I opted for a larger turbocharger than some m...

Figured I should add to this, recent Virginia Tech graduate (May 14). Worked at a local gym and Advance Auto while there and scraped together my KA-T setup. Oil pressure sensor port on the intake side of the block is 1/8" BSPT, probably a good assumption.

Good update, KA-T works great. So great that I could spin the clutch at WOT haha. It was a ton of fun but decided to park the car after developing a small lean issue. Pulling the intake manifold and cleaning up the vacuum lines before I replace the clutch. I needed new tires to pass inspection so ju...

After diagnosing for nearly a week straight, then narrowing it down to a control issue, it turned out to be the ECU. Won't fix your idle but at least keep oil out of the spark plug holes. For what it's worth, this can be a bigger problem than you think. A friend of mine did a tune-up on his Volvo recently. When we went to pull the plugs, Cyl 3 had a lot of oil in it. He dried it up the best he could by putting pa...
