Re: Need help troubleshooting air in power steering system

Well to make a long story long, I solved the issue. I couldn't get any good results with the pump on the car so I took the pump off and bench tested it by looping the lines from the reservoir to the pump and back so I could eliminate variables. Then I spun the pump up with my hand drill until the fl...

Re: Need help troubleshooting air in power steering system

So i decided to eliminate the dip in the feed line from the reservoir today. Welded a male AN fitting on the stock pump inlet pipe and made a new line straight to the pump that is a perfect decline feed to the pump inlet and..... same exact result. Idle the car for 15 min and the fluid turns bright ...

Re: Need help troubleshooting air in power steering system

Ok, so I took another good look at the car last night and there's only one thing sticking out as a possibility to me right now. I can't figure as how any air could be getting in on the input side to the pump, as all of the fittings are very tight and clamps are very secure, but while looking at the ...

Need help troubleshooting air in power steering system

Ok guys, you all are my first line of defense, i hope you can help me solve my issue. I amd the guy who bought Brian's (orion s14?) Re: *Helping a friend* Kade swap into an s12, injectors no f

Thank you for the response. Yes the fuel pump is priming, and if I ground the injectors a few times each, upon the next engine turn over, the engine will fire for a few few seconds, indicating fuel is at the injector and they are working properly. And also, yes the coil is firing, we have a separate...

*Helping a friend* Kade swap into an s12, injectors no fire?

Ok so I've searched around quite a bit and have been unable to find what I need, so I figured I'd come to the gurus of the Ka. Here's the deal, a friend of mine has swapped a kade into his s12. He has done all kinds of things that I don't know about, I'm just stepping into this mid stream to try to ...

Re: Need advice on next step, interesting oil pressure issue

That is good info for sure. I think tonight I'm going to pull the pan again and remove the guts of the relief valve (if I can get the plunger out) and put a cup under the pickup, turning the motor over then should eject oil out the relief like crazy. And then I think I will put a tube into the filte...

Re: Need advice on next step, interesting oil pressure issue

Was thinking about this last night, with new oil and filter (not pre-filled), would I need to turn the car over for more than a second or two to build pressure? I did watch a youtube video of a guy that spun one up with a drill and it took a few seconds before it even came out the top of the pump, a...

Need advice on next step, interesting oil pressure issue

So here's the story, built motor ka going on 5 years use. Low miles, probably 3k a year or so. Stock oil pressure sender works fine, and I have an autometer gauge that has worked consistently for years. Oil pressure is typically 60psi on cold start, and warm idle is about 15psi and ramps up to 50-60...

yes indeed once I've drained and refilled the oil with the fsm 4.0 quarts with oil filter, the smoke has cleared and the car is fine, no smoke whatsoever. My only real issue is that the level reads on the "L" on the dipstick which puts it about a half inch low on the stick to what it shoul...

Oil smoke at idle, too much oil? Motor Builders please look

So, I've searched and haven't found anything on the forum about this, but I have found others with very similar symptoms as mine, and I'm hoping to solve this problem once and for all. So I have completely built my engine (twice), with forged bits, new timing and oil pump, etc, top to bottom. I put ...

Fixed! sort of a series of unfortunate events that made me think something was really wrong... in fact, the diz was off by one tooth, however, it was rotated all the way to one side which put it at the -5 degree mark. When the dizzy slipped while it was running it would have been at something like -...

distributor slipped while idling, now wont run?

So I've just finished my rebuild, and the car is up and running fine. I forgot to tighten the dizzy bolts all the way, maybe a bit loose, anyway, the car was idling bleeding the coolant system, and then it just turns off. I notice the dizzy has rotated all the way to one side of the slot. I reset it...

Change base timing and fuel trim when dropping compression?

Ok guys, so i got my motor fully back together and running great. I used to have a stock block turbo setup, and recently fully built the block using forged internals, of which the slugs are cp 9:1 and I am using the base tune from Ehthalpy that i was using on the stock block setup. My question is th...

Automatic transmission not shifting right

My girlfriend has a 1992 vert, and occasionally it will pull revs from 1st-2nd gear, and not shift until you go to about 6k rpms. Ive had a similar problem with my z31, and it turned out to be a vaccum line cracked. Ive searched under the hood for any loose lines or dry rot and everything seems to b...
