When a 240sx gets smogged, the things the tech looks for are Pulse air injection, EGR, PCV, breather hose, o2, and timing. Pretty simple on a KA. You could even take it to the state ref and made completely legal with a Ref sticker. Then to smog techs, your car is basically a 240sx. Nothing hard abou...

I got you beat man. I got my gold coupe for free. Straight body, clean interior, HUD, 149K.

That's still not shabby though. Any chance I come across a S chassis for cheap, I'm on it like fly on ****! :P

KA24E problem-o

I just picked up an 89 Gold coupe for riiiiiidicoulously CHEAP! Body is clean, paint is still nice, car only has 149k on it. BUT! the chain was rattling like NUTS. I got the car home today and got down to ripping the motor apart. Lo and behold there are itty bitty plastic pieces everywhere under the...

strip the car. get rid of the A/C and power steering systems. Reroute the throttle body coolant lines. Get rid of the clutch fan for a junkyard electrical. punch out your cat. make your own custom 3 inch exhaust.

and then strip it some more.

talking about standalones, you guys have any tips on how I can start learning? I went through ASE A8(engine performance),A6(electrical), and L1(advanced engine and diagnostics) classes already, all in hopes of eventually being able to do my own test and tune with stand alones. It's really the 3D fue...

Hey Greaser, I know this is a KA-T forum, but since you have built some pretty wild motors, (assuming both kat and SR) I wanted to know what your opinions are of the two motors, and which one you prefer? (not looking for a SR vs KA debate) just your opinion. Thanks.

Anyone tried incorporating the SR Greddy manifold to a KA? Is it that much different?

I've been contemplating extrude honing the stock mani. Really can't go wrong there, since we are pretty limited in our choices.

I've been browsing around exhaust shops and have noticed pretty nice 3inch cats (flangless) for a decent price. I'm building my own exhaust, 3inches, just mandrel bent pipes (straight as possible, one piece), catback, and a straight through muffler. Actually pretty easy. Saved me 300 bucks too. :)

Thanks a lot flip240. By little vacuum manifold, you're talking about a vacuum distribution block right? (I saw one on a 98 KAT HKS car waaaayyy back) I still have the magazine, so if that's right, I could get one made. As for the manifold, by phatkat manifold, you're talking about the IAP one, or t...

flip240, you have the setup I have been planning. How long have you been driving it? (miles?) Any advice you can give me? I will be buying parts piece by piece. The thing I've been debating is the exhaust manifold. SSA? IAP? Do you see putting in JE pistons as as something worthwhile? Sorry for all ...

The car looks nice. My interior is still the **** lookin grey, hopefully it will look as nice as yours soon. Did you do any sanding to it at all?

...btw, I noticed how you have your seatbelt mounted. I would find some way to mount it up higher, for your own safety.

urethan in-a tube sounds cool to me. 200 for motor mounts, and 100 for a tranny mount? umm... do you have vaseline with that?

A lot of the guys on FA have actually done this mod with success. I'm too lazy to go mess with mine, but it will be done this way too.
