Re: Chassing lean/misfire the last 6 Months. Built Longblock
Good news and bad news. Good news the car is running perfect Bad news is I had to put it back to stock lol So its either tune/ecu which i've ruled out tune at this point. Swapped in a buddy ecu with moates board I put in and car ran the same with just a normal basetune. Thinking its injectors so im ...

Re: Chassing lean/misfire the last 6 Months. Built Longblock
I would check the rest of the lower chain but thats such a pita..... Im going to try move it one over and start it up. It could only run worse and I doubt it would do anything to the motor if it doesnt run any better after 10 seconds of idling.

Re: Chassing lean/misfire the last 6 Months. Built Longblock
Is my lower timing off? AFAIK the idle sprocket dot should be five links from the guide on the right. On the fith link should be in the middle. First picture is at TDC, second is 5BTDC, and third is a picture from a thread fixing incorrect lower timing without taking off the front cover. Cam timing ...

If you pause on these videos you can see what im talking about. I could have jumped a tooth in assembly, I know its possible if you dont keep that right short side of the chain tight.

Re: Chassing lean/misfire the last 6 Months. Built Longblock
Swapped in some copper cheapo ngks and still look new after running the same as before. So thats all good, probably foulded them from tuning or when was running in limp mode. I did check the timing and everything looks right BUT Noticed my lower timing... It should be around 5 links from the mark on...

I've got a "copy" of nistune but I can def do some logging tomorrow since im off work. Will get new spark plugs to check. The ones in the pictures are my second set. First set looked the same, swapped in the new set because I threw in my old 720cc injectors and motor got flooded because nu...

Re: Chassing lean/misfire the last 6 Months. Built Longblock
I can post about 6 different tunes lol. I have 93 in the tank right now. Originally had e85 but dumped it out because was sitting for basically months. I should say Martin did the switch for my ecu to do the dual tunes. So I have both pump/e85. Both tunes are basically same but e85 k value and some ...

Chassing lean/misfire the last 6 Months. Built Longblock
Big wall of text but bare with me.... Been fighting this lean idle and misfire the last 6 months. This isnt my first time with ka-t, had a stock motor pushed 10psi on corn till one day it started knocking and bent two rods. Motor had about 160-200k miles. No biggie, go through a tear down,...

Re: Turbo Fitment??? Downpipe Hitting Brake booster
I just saw the brake booster thread and thats also a good option but even with 1in bit of clearance its still going to be just as hot and the fluid will most likely boil over. I really dont want to do a manual brake conversion and have to beat the **** on my brakes just to stop.

Re: Turbo Fitment??? Downpipe Hitting Brake booster
The only cheapish turbos im looking at are one by twisted motion but I feel like they are just another cheap ebay brand. If I buy one, it will also bust within a year and im back at spending another 300 for a turbo. Same amount as getting a quality one.

Turbo Fitment??? Downpipe Hitting Brake booster
So after fixing everything under the sun with my ka and its running beautifully, its finally time to go and fix up this terrible turbo fitment I got since I bought the car from the most halfass 240 owner ever. Re: First Car and First Build: S13 DD Ka-t

Everything engine wise is running perfect, still getting the knock sensor but my one is most likely cracked or finally broke. I also went through my whole harness to check ...

No real updates but going to be rebuilding my power steering rack and raising up the height on the car this weekend and ordering some cheap tires online till I save up for some decent looking wheels. Re: First Car and First Build: S13 DD Ka-t
Im going to reset the tps this weekend and its nothing major but I want to know exactly why its so high. In the next month or so i'll borrow a air compressor and test for boost/vacuum leaks which im positive there are some by my bov and back side of my engine. The previous owner did some deletion a...

Ugh why e3 spark plugs?! Was my dads reconmendation, he just randomly picked them up and said he used them back in south africa and saw good stuff with it. Re: First Car and First Build: S13 DD Ka-t
900 is fine. But if you want to turn down, play with the IACV and make sure the idle screw on the throttle is not bumping it up. I like 900-1000 because when coming down from high revs, the motor catches itself better rather than stalling out. I'll check the idle screw on the throttle and I think 9...

Re: Bought 240sx with KAT/No boost
. Depending on how severe the leak is, this could be the reason for the engine not running; mainly because of how the MAF functions. . Its actually running now, basically was a hydrolock due to a o ring breaking and flooding the engine. It cranks and turns over perfect now. My no boost thing was ju...

Re: First Car and First Build: S13 DD Ka-t
So today, I went and picked up some e3 stark plugs just to try out, a compression tester, and some o rings for an injector which basically broke and caused this whole mess of my car not starting, starter blowing, and engine flooding with gas. Last night I spent about two hours draining and syphoning...

Re: First Car and First Build: S13 DD Ka-t
Nothing really import to a build but a good thing is my engine can turn over! So im 90% that one of my injectors were leaking and caused my engine to run super rich and basically hydrolock and once it was locked my starter blewup and was impossible to turn the engine over by hand. So instead of orig...

Re: First Car and First Build: S13 DD Ka-t
The pic of timing chain you sure it was at tdc? And not 180 out? The colored links will only link up with the cams when you first set it. The second you rotate it wont line up again. At tdc the first lobes are suppose to point away from each other. Sure those are the oem cams and correct one in the...

Re: Bought 240sx with KAT/No boost
Unless you 2 step! Boost leak test and make sure the fpr signal sees boost. I might put a rev limiter down the line but I cant really do a boost test since the car isnt running. Not sure what happened really, just it started dumping tons of rich fuel, could even lean it out with the safc in the car...

Re: First Car and First Build: S13 DD Ka-t
In the picture with the timing gears your intake cam has cylinder #1 intake valves open. You want the first two cam lobes faced left so the intake valves in cylinder #1 are closed and your exhaust cams lobes to the right so they are closed as well. Then you can properly count the links properly to ...

Re: Bought 240sx with KAT/No boost
Yes off the fpr, im not so concerned right now about this, im just going to run it off this nipple I found near the throttle body since its an s14 manifold and the car probably builds boosts, its just ive been testing everything on idle and you dont build boost when your not on load. So silly me lmao
