Re: Oil pressure while cranking?

To answer my own questions I never could get oil pressure while cranking, but I saw oil in the head washing away assembly lube. Previously I tested galleys with compressed air while the engine was on a stand, and I could feel air come out the head by the 1st journals in both cams when I put it compr...

Re: Best engine break-in method if cams aren't new?

Thanks for the reply. Fired it up today, and of course it didn't work first try, but after fixing a few grounds, and using another car to help jump-start it fired up. Only was able to run it maybe 5 minutes at a time for maybe 20 minutes total revving it at 2-3k rpms, but it had good oil pressure, g...

Re: Best engine break-in method if cams aren't new?

At what point do you normally see oil pressure? Can you see it while just cranking with starter, or do you have to actually start engine to see it? Do you normally pack the pump with grease or anything?

Oil pressure while cranking?

New rebuild ready to start tomorrow. Cranked over today but not for long maybe 20 seconds or so. But saw no oil pressure on gauge or no oil coming out from hose that goes to gauge (left it unhooked at first, but then hooked it up.) Should oil pickup have O-Ring or Gasket or BOTH between it and the p...

Best engine break-in method if cams aren't new?

Block bored .020 over. New pistons, rings, rods, new bearings. Head was refreshed, but I'm still using my old 248/248 cam setup. Since I don't care about breaking in cams, do I still need to run engine with no load from 2-3k for 20 or so minutes and change oil? Or should I just fire it up, fix timin...

Thanks so much! You rock! Took two engines apart a few weeks apart from each other, found one of the floor both times. Since I just pull the chain off it makes sense it would spring/fall out.. I have a new timing chain kit too. I thought it might be a dowel or go between the bottom timing cover and ...

Part I think came from in between lower front cover and block, but I"m not 100% sure.
Can't find it on any part diagram, it's hollow on the bottom but has no holes.

Anyone running any problems with a large t2 and the dipstick tube? I went from T2 turbo with 3" inlet to one with 4", and now the dipstick holder won't fit right. Nice. I bet that turbo puts the old one to shame. How much did the rebuild cost? I always hear that BB turbos are expensive to rebuild. Yeah the new turbo is awesome. I totally underestimated how much better ball bearing turbos are. At 8psi the new turbo is as fast as the old one at 12psi. I got it...

Re: KA'S GETTING HARDER TO FIND?

Yeah I'm like 10 years too late to the KA game. In the South East you'll see some KA's pop up for $400+ running or $300+ with bad bearing (or who knows) but they are gone within a day or two if anywhere near a populated area (3-4 hour drive). No more $300 ka's that sit around for weeks, or multiple ...

Long story short got a gt2876r with a bad turbine wheel for stupid cheap. If I have it rebuilt since it's ball bearing is it just going to be some Chinese ball bearing cartridge since garrett doesn't sell replacement parts to non-authorized places ? (Which there are very very few of).

Yeah that thing would take TONS of heat to be able to weld, 220v welder no question. You'd want to preheat the whole thing as much as you can before trying to weld it. I like your idea of putting in a stud cross threaded and then cutting it off. Maybe tack weld it on the top in a couple of places pe...

Re: Adam's formerly supercharged... now soon-to-be-turbo'd,

I'd also like an improved launch control where you can actually lower timing past 0* (ATDC). And of course, COP would be cool. So would a MAP sensor instead of a MAF. I wish nistune had some outputs for things like a boost control solenoid or NOS. Wish I could set fan trip point without having boar...

Thanks man. I'm really thinking about switching to MS so I can log more data, such as boost and crankcase pressure. I just can't pay enough attention to either of those gauges when I'm running 17 psi! Nistune is cool, but I need something with more features and options. You can log those with nistu...

How does this timing map look for 93 octane and a t28? I add the psi column which I thought should help. Before you order the kit you might want to call and ask that company what the backorder time is, it might be months from my experience.
