Re: JimmBooost S14 Build "Weekend Warrior"

And yes, aftermarket cams are one of the best upgrades you can do. I'd highly recommend JWT S1s or Kelford 272's. Most likely looking forward to JWT s1 Cams/Gears. I'm on JWT site right now and there listed for $560 only for camshafts.. Cam Gears are $140. Price isn't to bad but worth every cent. W...

Re: JimmBooost S14 Build "Weekend Warrior"

I'm running Greaser's mechanically locked tensioners. They're not really need necessary for stock cam setups, but I'd def recommend them with aftermarket cams and cam gears. I somehow overlooked the post about the trans. That seems like a great deal for a brand new one. Hmmm.. Was it Greaser? Someh...

Re: JimmBooost S14 Build "Weekend Warrior"

Sandblast the cams??? You mean, the entire cam? Cam journals should be very smooth. I can't picture how you would sandblast them while keeping the journals smooth. If they look too rough, have a machinist polish them (keeping within factory spec). My journals had some deep scoring from surviving thr...

Re: JimmBooost S14 Build "Weekend Warrior"

But I've been all over there internet selling parts, hopefully getting rid of all I don't need.. soon to get rid of my smooth arse KA trans to a good friend once she comes get it. Now I'm just lingering around accumulating ideas and re...

Re: New Project: Mild build

That is a sickkkk oil pan. Edit: We're able to use SR20 Oil Pan? If so care to explain the needs. Thank Edit: So you can use the SR20 bottom half, having read super street article I understand the use of xcessive half being able to keep the OEM oil pick up. This is cool. Haha hah, thanks! Re: JimmBooost S14 Build "Weekend Warrior"

Update.. No real progress was made these past few days, but did picked up a few goodies while I am piecing my block together to be sent to the local machinist. The anxiety builds up.. So here is 248 Exhaust cam I've picked up from the S13, doing a "Hot Cam" swap using both Exhaust cam, was...

Re: New Project: Mild build

That is a sickkkk oil pan. I'd thought Moroso makes one for our KA's but I can't seem to find it.. probably had mistake it for the SR one. When time comes, this Canton pan might be the one. Re: JimmBooost S14 Build "Weekend Warrior"

I've only had 2 sets of cams in mine. The stock 232/232s, and my JWT S1s. I put them in when I was still N/A and it was the single biggest upgrade I had done at that point. Mid and top rang gains are fantastic, with minimal low end loss. There's a dyno sheet somewhere around here from when Sport Co...

Re: JimmBooost S14 Build "Weekend Warrior"

What do you do with wires on your harness you don't use Adam. I always cut and label connectors. I don't remove wires at first until I know for sure everything works okay without it. Then I try to remember to go back and remove as much of it as possible. Head looks good. I'd think about picking up ...

Re: JimmBooost S14 Build "Weekend Warrior"

As of now, process of removing the head with the repetitive cam caps sequence. I've went and order SuperTech Dual Springs & Retainers with SR20Det Exhaust valve stem seals BOTH exhaust side to confirm that our KA's valve stems are equal diameter size Intake & Exhaust being 7mm OD therefore t...

Progress, as I'm taking apart the Intake Manifold, to remove the head. I am unsure if I still need this sensor leading from the 4th Injector to a mounting bracket with vacuum lines behind the head iirc its "EGR/Canister Sub Harness" stated on S14 '95 FSM. (left sensor plug) could anyone t...

Re: JimmBooost S14 Build "Weekend Warrior"

We've all been where you're at. Just commiting to doing it yourself is a good way to start. Were you able to figure out if the SR valve seals will work in the KA? Yes I have, I had a complete set of OEM SR valve seals, Exhaust Side are 7mm Intake side were 6mm. Our KAs are the same size all 16 valv...

Being I have own this for very short time, and due to work hours.. I can only do so much during the week as I can say. I drove the car for a few weeks just to get a feel. Thanks man. I think of it as more of a "Best way to throw money away" guidebook! You should post a build thread. It makes it easier to help troubleshoot any issues when we can look back and see what your setup is/was, how it has changed, etc. The forum is slow these days, but nothing can ...

Wow.. Amazing Adam! Dedication is an understatement! As I am also building a KA (first 240) picking up my head tomorrow from a local machinist, thinking about starting a thread build also. But then again it's a basic build, as I am reading through you build page by page getting ideas. I'm considerin...
