I had some issue reports with the various ecX codes and would like to get ec5 out there with most everything solved, and the write commands included for nvsram boards. Ill s...

Nvsram with appropriate write over serial modification on an oem ecu is a lot like using an emulator, both provide real time update capability, and ability to save your .bin and write it to a standard eprom if you wish. An eprom emulator uses sram (either bbsram or nvsram) with a microcontroller. It...

The nvsram implementation for the ka24e ecu provides full real time functionality. Changes made to nvsram in real time are automatically stored in internal eeprom at powerdown, and restored to sram from eeprom at power up. It works really well, has a well thought out custom consult command set and c...

Z series (Z24) big and small end width is wider than KA rod, can be narrowed but you will end up with essentially a KA press fit truck rod, its not going to be any stronger. Pin boss on the piston is also narrower on the KA, though Z series pistons could be used on a KA rod (.080" or more toler...

The maptrace works great actually. You just need to add your TP to your consult register table in the .bin, and then set the offset in the .ecs file. Nemesys can trace multiple fuel/ignition tables, and can use a separate TP for fuel or ignition. Some (most) eccs systems use a different TP variable ...

This allows a ka24e U12 or S13 ecu to run from NVSRAM instead of ROM. With the program and data running in SRAM instead of ROM, the program can be re-written to modify the data (tables, injector settings, etc) through the serial connection (consult). Real time updates can be made through the consult...

The auto and manual ecu's are indeed the same and can accept the same binary (people usually prefer the manual base code). The boards should look identical, if they dont you have a weird ecu, might be out of a ka24e truck, those are a little different. You must have bad solder connections on the aut...

If your hex editor has the capability,

Open the .bin in the hex editor and select the entire file and copy. Paste it at the end of the file and it should double in size, save it.

If your hex editor doesnt do this, try WinHex.

When you read the 27sf512 chip (after you have programmed it), the total file size should be FFFF, with the .bin starting at 8000hex and ending up at FFFFhex. There should be 0's (or whatever placeholder, could be FF also) from 0000hex to 7FFFhex. It looks to me like you are doing everything correct...

You need a U12 ecu to make this work, #1.

Pinout for the U12 ecu is the same as obd1 (blue connector) sr20det, and ka24de. Wire it up just like those, and source your 12v+ and ground elsewhere.

Thats all you need to know.

Most (all) the information in this thread is wrong. First, engine displacement is a factor of swept volume. You can have a dished piston or a flatop or dome piston, it doesnt matter, displacement DOES NOT change. Second, a dohc piston installed in a sohc engine does not result in 1 point compression...

Not easily. The crank snout of the ka24 is smaller diameter than the Z series and the lower sprocket has 1 less tooth count. Switch to Z series (Z24) crank and block, and run duplex chain. You can get all kinds of adjustable upper sprockets for these, not to mention the stock sprocket has 3 adjustments already. The L/Z series has superior chain wrap and tension characteristics compared to ka24e, you can kiss your timing c...
