Re: p00t's long winded journal from the beginning of time

The last update for now is new wheels and tires. I needed more rubber under the rear so I could get my 2nd gear back. So RPF1s and Azenis 655 were what I settled on. I kept the 245 width in the front but stepped up to 275 in the rear. I had to re-roll the fenders slightly due to rubbing after my fir...

Re: p00t's long winded journal from the beginning of time

I had two leaks happening. 1 was new. 1 was old. The new one was from the power steering hose (feed to the pump). I guess there was a compatibility issue or something but after a year with this setup the power steering fluid was sweating through the hose. I wound up replacing it with a new hose but ...

Re: p00t's long winded journal from the beginning of time

I was having trouble with boost control earlier in the year. No it wasn't the solenoid or my controller (I know that would be your first guess!). No matter what the wastegate control was set to the boost was creep up with RPM... It pulled real good though! I data logged a pull and was surprised I wa...

Re: p00t's long winded journal from the beginning of time

It's been a year of radio silence here! Sorry about that. Besides the occasional commute to work and fun drives to dinner/ice cream with the family I only managed two track events in 2023. I will post some video next time and I'll figure out how to do some ride along video. There has been so much co...

Re: Fuel system questions???

Your biggest issue which the fuel regulator does not solve is your timing.

You should be able to socket the ECU and run a custom tune or get nismotronic for it. Even without consult connection it is way better than an SAFC and EMU.

Lots of existing threads on this but the pictures may be long gone!

Probably a different issue to what Mo had posted. Are you only getting 2v at the ECU? What did the fire take out?

Timing way out or a misfire could cause it. One injector flowing way more than the others as well. Maybe timing on the injector opening?

Re: Need help finding oversized forged Pistons

0.5mm is ~0.020" which is a standard overbore size. You would need to ask yourself if you want to order custom pistons to fit a block that needs more boring than that to fix. You make the block walls thinner and weaker when you go bigger and you are adding more power with a turbo. I'm not sayin...

Re: 93 boosted 4x4 hb tune questions

What I meant is how are you adjusting the size of your injectors? There has to be a setting for it. I think when you run the MAF on the pressure side you wind up adjusting it one way or the other from a theoretical setting because it depends on how the air is flowing through the tube and the angle o...

Re: Cool new intake manifold and future plans

That is a lot of plenum volume. WOW. I think 74mm throttle is a good choice. I'm still rocking the stock one on a bigger plenum and I can max out my z32 MAF easily with this new setup. Interesting that Tomei manifold is discontinued... and they say there is a new version coming. Must have sold a few...

No launches, no power shifting and you can make them last a bit though.

Eventually z32 or z33 box is the way to go.

The hosting site needs to be "https" to use the image tags but you might be able to upload as an attachment to your post if that is easier for you. I guess we need to update some information on this board.

How to attach is shown using the attachment feature:

Can you get a good measurement of the diameter where the scuff is the worst vs rotated to an un-scuffed area right next to it? I would see how many thousandths have worn away. You can easily throw those numbers into an email to CP. But I think they usually recommend no more than 2-3 thousandths.

You say waste of time but if it works well then it is worth it. I bought a low profile bracket for my corbeau seat and have already had to repair it in 2 places after the sliders got stuck with the seat ALL the way back covering the rear bolts. So maybe some creative engineering would have bee...

Re: To boost or not to boost, that is the question.

In my mind the problem to maximizing mileage is you need to keep the EGR. I have always seen mileage go down when that gets disabled. It lowers your pumping losses and the timing is optimized for it in the low load parts of the timing map. I'm not sure how compatible the stock system is with boost a...

Re: Car made 100hp less than it should have

Why not post some pictures of your setup? Without any other information I would suspect the turbo and wastegate are just not good. If the wastegate is leaking or the turbo is crappy you will have a super laggy system. BOV should be tightened all the way to see if there is a difference and connected ...

Yes that is wear from the old seal. When you re-install the new rear main seal just make sure the oil seal lip (inside) is not sitting right in that groove. You should be able to press the seal into the cover but only 80-90% in. Put light amount of oil and put the cover on, then take it off and see ...

Re: PDM Control Arms Ball Joint ?

I have not had luck with pressing in ball joints into these LCAs. A few years ago I had to replace one and the Moog one I had pressed in fairly loosely. I wound up tack welding it in place on the bottom just to be sure. Those differences are pretty small and just might depend on the size of the knur...

Re: build list /hp and torq

Mostly: You need to research some yourself on this topic. Everything works together depending on your intent. For power of 400hp you need to decide on gas (very attainable) or corn. Corn almost doubles your injector size. Are you sticking with the stock ECU? MAF or MAP? Do you want a budget turbo or...

I remember my machinist grinding either the crank or bearing down because it would not fit. I don't remember which. I used Clevite's also.
