It can be welded on using a MIG too. Just make sure that fitting is steel and not aluminum. Look half way down on my post and you see that I did the same thing.

Haha. I had the same question but it'll be fine as long as you have the connectors crimped and insulated. The reasoning being that gasoline is a poor conductor therefore a good insulator. I did a 5 speed swap on my ka-e and my key wont come out of the ignition, im not sure what i may have missed, i did it a long time ago, and its been sitting since. any ideas? Did you disconnect this plug here at the steering column? Look at post #4 for a pic of the key capture plug. Hope it helps. ...
