Re: 240sx driveshaft
I've had a Shaftmasters aluminum non abs S13 driveshaft for many years now (50 trim ka-t 12psi). No issues whatsoever! They sponsored nico and had a good coupon which made them much more affordable than drive shaft shop.

Re: Odd Limp mode Z32 MAF troubleshooting
Thanks for the reply, coincidentally, on Monday night I did just that. After fixing my shoddy soldering job on the z32 maf plug wiring (replaced with a new wiring specialties version), it works! I had ignorantly cold soldered (melting solder with iron vs heating the wires) the wires years ago and it...

Odd Limp mode Z32 MAF troubleshooting
Hi, so i've been scouring the forums looking for specific insight on what happened with my S13 kade-t. Back story- 1. ka-t running a chipped ecu with Z32 MAF(no MAF issues prior) 2. Pulled intake manifold for a overhaul of all coolant and vacuum hoses, and replaced with S14 intake manifold and S14 t...

IIRC, Bilsteins aren't direct fit, at least not for S13's. They are most likely a custom job, but a search may yield better results. KYB AGX's would be a good off the shelf alternative.

This is very exciting! I like my JGS manifold very much but this seems like it flow a bit better, while keeping reliability up and cost down. I wonder how fitment is..

I mean, it sounds cool and all, and if I had the coin to replace the turbo every couple of months I'd probably do it...
Lol. Jk. Bad idea. Only diesel guys run no BOVs. I'm sure some other guys do it too, doesn't make it a good idea.

Re: going ka-t
Tuneable ecu's don't have to be Haltech or AEM. Nistune and MegaSquirt are very cost effective (and just as good in some cases) alternatives. The gt3071r (T3) is good til the low 400whp, you could go a little smaller like a gt2871r (T2), I believe they max around 380whp. Just depends on your goals. ...

No personal exp but i've seen exhaust ran underneath a gas tank on factory cars using a heat shield and of course an air gap between the exhaust and heat shield

Re: FPR brand
I've run cheap eBay regulators too, and my engine was fine. I always felt like I was on borrowed time though, so now I try and limit eBay stuff to none moving parts. It only takes leaning out one good time during boost to make your engine pop. No thanks

Thanks for the reply, the more experience we can find the better.
I'll see how this run of amsoil 10w-40 goes. I do like extended drain times so i'll get an UOA at probably 5k and go from there, maybe longer if I really start driving it more. If I tracked the car I could see more frequent changes.

Running Amsoil 0w-30 I was getting 50 psi at 3k, this was during a 45 min cruise, coolant temp at 185. I don't have a oil temp gauge yet. Thoughts?

Re: FPR brand
A standard seat -6an fuelab FPR can flow up to 570 LPH. The FPR bypasses the the most fuel at idle. As long as your pump flow minus your idle fuel consumption is < 500 LPH, there is no need to go with a -10an or large seat FPR. Be careful with getting more fuel pump than you need, especially if it ...

Re: KA24DE oil pump performance data
So the FSM calls for 60-70 psi at 3000, does a 40 weight do this? Sound like Duncans hits that pressure at redline, which makes sense since the recommended max oil weight is a 40 anyway. It'd be nice to know if a 50 weight is the true ideal oil in our turbo'd KAs I'll be running Amsoil 10w-40 100% s...
Re: FPR brand
I have the Fuelab mini regulator, it's -6 inlet/outlet. The full size has -8 in / -6 out. I would skip the 320 (conflicting results on whether or not they truly flow more than a 255) and go straight for the 416 (now e85 compatable and proven to flow a LOT), but you may need a fuel cooler like supaka...

Is the engine turning over? The post is a little hard to read.
Have you checked all your fuses? I had a random no start issue with this tiny grounding wire from the firewall to the intake manifold (or head, I can't remember but small 4-6" wire.)

Re: FPR brand
Fuelab run $150-200 which is right there with Aeromotive. After seeing the insides of both, the machining was much cleaner on the Fuelab FPR. Something different I've found is FPR's that use a Bosch regulator. Radium makes one for $170, and Blowerworks.biz for $250. The use of the Bosch regulator is...

Re: The pursuit of the right oil! Bobistheoilguy
Bringing this thread back, let's see some year long results! I am going to switch from Amsoil 0w-30 to Amsoil 10w-40 Signature, that's what I have and seems ideal for a street ka-t. I had bumped the an oil pump thread thinking it was this one, sorry!
Re: FPR brand
I don't remember the article I read but someone took apart several popular name brand FPR's and the Fuelab was built with the highest quality... I bought their -6 mini FPR, no complaints. I think the others may have been AEM and Aeromotive.

The radiator part. I just put on a CXRacing radiator, but i'm not daily'ing the car yet. I'll insulate whatever gaps I can, including around the fan shroud as my hack job left some gaps. I'll go ahead and get a cooling plate as well. With the stock rad last summer, I was hitting 205 with a/c on in 9...

I would recommend putting more into your cooling setup. the ka likes to run hot, even more so on the aluminum radiators(i.e. cxracing/ebay/etc). duct the radiator (its open design does not bode well on track days)

Match Bot is Borg Warners online turbo tool that maps out their turbos and estimated power and alot of other things like turbo backpressure. http://www.turbos.bwauto.com/aftermarket/matchbot.aspx This is the turbo I mapped with the tool above: http://www.treadstonepe...

Borg Warners EFR line has a .92 ar divided T4. It's a pretty dang good match to our engine. Pricey turbo, but the data is very useful, like their Match Bot program

From what I've read, a SS T3 .82 is very close to a divided T4 1.06. Should be a good size on the KA. Single scroll T4 would probably be very laggy on KA's, unless you're able to rev pretty high

Meth has its drawbacks too. Namely short pump life and potential failure during boost. A guy on the Evo forums is using a sperate fuel system to inject e85 into the intercooler piping. I think he's been doing it for 3 years now no issues. I'm very tempted to try it myself. Benefits of meth injection...

Re: To those that run e85
A lot of truth in that post. The best practice is to check your injectors at different intervals, and use the same e85 station for consistency. A friend also has had zero gunking issues with straight e85, and many more have posted issues of gunked injectors that match the study I posted above. Check...
