i just think its a lot of effort for minimal gain. if you wanna do it and can do it well, more power to ya, not trying to cut ya down that way. Im just looking at it from the effort to gain perspective Non taken. My lower manifold got messed up, so I was just thinking to fab up my own. I have plent...

whats gonna be the benefit with just a lower manifold. seems kinda pointless to me. It will be easier for me to do, because I won't have the injectors to deal with (angles, machining after casting, fuel rail points). Makes it look OEM so there will be less likely chance of looking more indepth when...

The welder is a thermal arc 185, and so far i like it alot, not that i have anything to compare it too lol. I know i'm not running out of gas but what else could cause that? I think the tungston might have been a lil contaminated  so i'm thinking that's the reason. And ya it's just a practice...

Think its ok since its not a a stress loaded piece. I think you are running out of gas though, from the carbon deposit on the beads. Just need a steadier pace.

Question, possible sale

I'm getting ready to start casting aluminum. I'm thinking of casting a DOHC lower intake manifold as a direct bolt on replacement from the stock one. I want to know: How many vacuum ports should I put in? should I have an option to put on a q45 TB? What's a reasonable price would you think I should ...

Can fluxcore weld it too, but just have to cover the threads from the weld splatter with something like a small piece of pipe, or a nut.

you can "solder" it, but I would only do that, if you are using a coupler (male ends on both ends) and us a low profile nut to hold it in from the inside of the pan. Just need a propane torch. You can also braze weld it. Its like soldering but its higher heat and instead of using lead you use a braz...

I don't really think so, but who knows? I would take a dremel with a cut off wheel to it, so you can cut a slot into it, so you can use a flat head screw driver. That shouldn't be a screw, just for that very reason. Once you get it out, replace it with a bolt with the corresponding thread/size, and ...

Redneck~? Looks like a pretty standard rust repair to me.

Redneck would, just leaving it and saying that its natures way of stripping weight :p

I think that kind of drain plug. You need to use an allen wrench (hex type peg). It should still fit, unless you FUBAR'd it up :p

did you run the engine wile it was jacked? it you stripped the threads and its a steel/copper radiator. Take out the radiator, try to find a aluminum bolt that corresponds to you drain plug, but longer. Flip the radiator, get some lead solder and a propane torch. Heat up the bung and the apply the l...

ok and to reply to your last post, you do know that in CA any car past 75 is subjected to a smog right? 76 is smog controlled, and i found this out the hard way even if you have a car thats older than 75, like oh i dont know say a 72 datsun 510, and you swap in a motor thats newer than 76 like a 93...

not true either, any modification past the catalytic converter or last oxygen sensor in an obd2 automobile in california is legal as long as it passes the noise limit of 95db, i know this because after the cat (or last o2 in an obd2) it is no longer smog controlled in any effect, the only law they ...

to AK-Z: no every item in the kit does not need an E.O. number the kit as a whole needs an E.O. number, alot of turbo kits that are CARB legal dont have a E.O. number on every item just some of the main ones most of the time that means the manifold, maybe the turbo, and intercooler, not every littl...

the condenser is on the S14 distributor anyways. Its wired into the it just like the coil is, so there's not much to worry about

every item in the kit needs a CARB O.E. number. Technically the only real reason why you can't "legally" pass visual, is because there wasn't a turbo manifold that was carb legal (until this discovery), and the fact that you even "touch" the egr valve, let alone remove it :p. If you use OEM parts fr...

I really don't think he needs to buy a new clutch, if its doing the same thing as "S14 Kouki's" picture. You just need a long socket that is just large enough to fit inside the hole, 2 pieces of 2x4, and a hammer. Have the stuck bushing facing towards the bottom laying on the 2 2x4s, slide in the so...
