Re: Who wants a KA-T BAD!

I can't believe this thread was dug up. I'm potentially moving to Japan next spring. I might not own a car, but if so, a 4 door skyline is probably the order for the family -- or one of those small K-car like white vans that are very handy. I still miss 240s all the time, but my close friend has a c...

Re: Fine tuning for faster start up?

Why don't you explain the conditions during startup that are related to your current output so that we can know what's going on? Telling me the tuning platform doesn't help at all. All that says is that you can adjust fuel and timing. That explains nothing other than to say you have the ability to f...

Maybe Nistune software is bugged with a recent change? I don't use Nistune much. maybe once a year lately. Please contact them and see if they can understand the issue and adjust the software.

Re: Question about hosted tunes

This sounds like a new issue. I've never had this problem. You could try a workaround. An example of how I might try to work around would involve tunerpro, using the appropriate 'preset tune' from nistune, but in tunerpro --- then copy over all of the data you want from the hosted tune. Then save it...

A properly setup clutch fan (I'm going with the GK Tech) with the fan shroud still intact will cool better than Altima fans. ...so you read.... guess whoes going to quantify that with data? :D all the old skool jdm bois say it so i believe it... but being an engineer i just gots to quantify it. This is late, but I can say this. Use Tunerpro if it gives access to it. I'm not sure though. If nistune isn't allowing it then just leave it be. Did you ever clean that IACV or just open it some more?

Re: Tuning with a Knock Light

Since you were on a Dyno and had no knock (according to the tuners) and the light is going off, my guess is that the light is not accurate. The TurboXS Knock Lite could be calibrated AND adjusted for sensitivity. You might go back to the dyno, have them hook up det cans or a microphone, and do pulls...

Re: Hanging with an 02 BMW M5

I had an M5 in that class when I lived in italy. My S13 with 12psi (T3/T04E) would have beat it in a race. Those M5 are great for torque and total fat power band matched with significant handling and comfort/sex-appeal as well. It is, over all, a far better car than the 240SX. There are some 1000+wh...

Re: how do ya make a ka engine move fast..

At first your thread seems like crazy ambitions with unlikely good results. But when I read what you're planning to do, it makes sense --- basically you will engineer and plan very well and do tons of work to make sure its a good car. And that will be great. I recommend a GT3071R T2 at 20psi on race...

Re: What would pull timing at idle

This is FACT: The KA24DE does not idle at 20 deg BTDC. That is the exact place it will idle if you force the car into timing-setting mode. It may idle there sometimes, but by and large it will vary the idle timing to stabilize the idle. The only time it stays firm at 20 is when you force it, or poss...

All this effort to bootstrap good ideas into cheap-out technology. Go buy real tuning solutions. If you're going to care this much about your car, your parts should reflect that. If you can't afford it right now then sit back and appreciate your ability to develop patience. This is just advice. You'...
