If I were in that climate, I'd spring for an aftermarket radiator, run a 70% distilled water, 30% coolant + Water Wetter mix, bleed it properly, and make sure the rest of the stock system is working up to par.

Totally agree with flip240. The simplicity, reliability, and cooling efficiency of the stock fan clutch and shrouding mated to a larger aftermarket radiator is hard to beat.

All the braces in my car are from Stealth Custom Fab (front+rear strut towers, tc rod brackets, and fender braces). It's a small company out of Sacramento, CA owned by the fabricator himself, Jonnie Fraz. The quality of his work is amazing and dealing with him is a pleasure, based on my own experien...

I'll vouch for the ACT HDR6 kit. I've had it in my car since 2007 and I've put it through the wringer. Still works great.

It's rated at 342 lbs/ft and you can get for about $360.

Here's the latest: After almost three weeks of not using my car I went to start it to warm it up some. The starter half-cranked and then --- nothing but silence and darkness. Checked the alternator fuse, ignition fuse, and electronics fuse and they're all fine. Then I hook up the voltmeter to the ba...

It seems that the install is in order... Since it's easy to do; I'd take out the MBC and do another pull to check if the problem repeats itself. If it does, your issue is obviously something besides the MBC. If it doesn't, try hooking up the MBC to a dedicated line from the compressor housing instea...

It's Been a While...

It's been about four years since I posted on ka-t.org so I figured that it would be best to re-introduce myself. I bought this car bone-stock in Florida in 2005 and took it down to Puerto Rico that same year. I first did a factory internals / T28 / 370cc / SAFC setup that netted about 230 hp. When t...

Had symptoms similar to what OP describes on two occasions; one time it was spark blowout and the other time they were caused by an exhaust leak.

No harm in checking for those, good luck.

KA-Ts dominate track day in PR (plenty-o-pics)

I posted this on another site, but thought you guys might enjoy it. Sunday, Oct. 26th, 2008 at the SGI track in Sábana Seca, Puerto Rico. Competition format was one lap from a standing start. The track is 0.66 miles long. There were 17 participants. The 3 KA-Ts that competed finished in the top 5. T...

I made this diagram for a stock external coil. If you're using a Blaster coil, just take the orange and thin black wire directly to the Blaster's positive and negative.

When I was NA I ran 370s with the stock MAF with no SAFC. I'd have to let it warm up though, because it would stall when cold. The first couple of months with the turbo, I didn't have the SAFC either, and the car ran pretty good with the stock MAF, 370s, and 8:1 FPR. When I installed and tuned the S...

If you have a JWT ECU, I don't think you would need any retard. I've read that their timing maps are pretty conservative.
