intake manifold i built

it just needs a vac manifold welded on and a bracket for the throttle cable. then off to polishing. http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f161/weirtech/Project%20RWD%20CRX/DSCN0225.jpg http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f161/weirtech/Project%20RWD%20CRX/DSCN0219.jpg http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f161...

i know it is going to be tight to the mbc, but if it is too close, i'll modify it.

as for the round ports, they are slightly larger than the square ports. if needed, it wouldn't take much to grind the corners into them a bit.

finally, a KA manifold!

this is going on a local drift car i am sponsoring this year. his current setup is an ebay manifold that is starting to crack, so i made a jig to replace the manifold but would allow him to run all the other components. we will slowly upgrade the rest of the kit as well. http://i47.photobucket.com/a...

i've built manifolds using mild steel and 304ss flanges. ss flanges do get as hot as mild steel flanges, it just takes them a bit longer to get as hot... kinda the opposite of aluminum which gets hot quicker. this is what makes stainless more prone to warping. when you weld any material, you are app...

Looks real nice, but id like to see the clearance in the engine bay haha. Its gotta be close it isn't too bad actually. the charge piping is going to be tighter than any of the hot pipes. here are a few earlier mock up shots. http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f161/weirtech/Fab%20for%20Hondas/DSC007...

definitely try stuff out on your own car first to find out what works and what doesn't. unless you have friends that don't mind being guinea pigs. if you can find a niche market that isn't really soaked, or being robbed by cheap knock off products you can probably make some money.

i'd brace that wastegate somehow. if you don't i guarantee it will break at the collector joint. try to spend a bit more time cleaning your material before you start welding. the results will be worth the extra effort.

i hope you aren't a welder 480sx because that is some bad info. by your theory a butt joint or a lap joint could be done with no filler at all. that is never a good idea. the filler metal is what gives the joint strength, especially with stainless welding. as for the op, i'd weld the pipe to the fla...

nice work brad. you need to wirebrush those pipes before you weld them together. it will turn out looking even better.

where are you getting your flanges? i can probably beat the price you are paying, plus i'm in canada as well.
