I did this about 3 or 4 months ago. The one thing you didn't cover or I didn't see is setting the spacing between the cam lobes and the valve seats I think they are called. With age/use the valve stems stretch a little and once you lap the valves they also move higher up. I used my drimel to shave a...

try checking the battery's connection. I know it seems stupid but it happens alot. If you turn the key and all the lights go out then that might be it. check the plug on altenator as well and make sure it is all the way in. then go through the car and check all of your power connections and ground ...

electrical problems, no crank, no engine lights, rebuilt KA

Please help I'm lost. I do have a volt meter to test. I recently rebuilt my KA24de. Finally got mostly everything running right. Still need to hook up my front 02 sensor and air intake temp sensor. I took it to a car wash yesterday. I power washed all the dead leafs from behind the windshield wipers...

Your cams aren't in right, you are off one tooth. Set it to TDC, pull your valve cover and check twice. It'll casue exactly what you describe. The upper's were spot on. I'm going to pull it and set it at TDC and post a picture. But I'm saying, I went as far as counting the links and all. I'm wonder...

First rebuild, STARTS!, DRIVES! but timming is way off

I just finished rebuilding my engine a week ago and it starts. I have to give it gas but once it catches it'll idle on its own. Sounds a little rough, like a truck engine sorta. Problem is when I hook up a timing light it's about half an inch to the right beyond the notches on the crank pulley. When...

Well it is a stock part for only one car, the 350z. 350z's come with them so there isn't a demand. Call a drive shop and see if they could make it work. I'm still months away from doing a 5 speed swap to even start worrying about it.

YA know I've seen used CF 350z drive shafts go for as little as $16.00 on ebay and have wanted to get the measurements and talk to a drive shaft and see if they make it work with a 240. Just throwing it out there in case you wanted to do look into that and see if it was possible. Sure as hell would ...

I pretty much did the same thing to my head and internals but you are going to have to put a little work into those cylinders to get the carbon ring off. It's really no big deal but don't leave those carbon rings on the cylinder walls. If you do you may end up breaking your new rings on them. Piston...

Last time I did it I put a couple of drops of Marvin's mystery oil around the top and fifteen minutes later pulled them out. Took some elbow grease but I was able to remove them with my fingers. No, I mean a reamer. To get rid of any carbon buildup present at the top of the bores that might break the rings. Just use some carb cleaner/ or wd 40 or whatever on them and an emory cloth. Takes a little elbow grease but they come right off. I thought I needed a ridge reamer at first too but the ...

I have a glass pack on mine but it is only 8 or 10 inches long and it still too loud but bearable. I can hear a little bit of backfire. I think the extra length of yours is what made the difference. One thing I heard was the growl from the 350z's and the G35 comes from the resonators. I'm thinking a...

Nico has a couple of people running one. .58mm is only .0228". AMS specs .022" for the top compression ring. Wiseco told me about .0019-.0020" for up to 500hp. A book I have says .0065"/inch of cylinder bore. So .0065x3.5=.002275 bang on buddy. You're good to go, in my opinion. Just get an accurate measurement before y...

Max cylinder ring gap

I did some measuring of my piston rings and the top one was one feeler gauge above .52mm I don't have the exact numbers on me but I want to say .58. I'm going to double check this weekend. In the FSM it says .28-.52 for the top ring and at the bottom it says Max limit of ring gap is 1.0mm. Does that...

How to get 248/ 232 cams?

Hi all, so I'm in the middle of rebuilding my head and I brake my exhaust cam on my s14 ka24de. I've read that 248/232 is where I want to be and I think ...
