So I bought a motor to put in my Vert and had to swap the heads since the previous owner stripped the idler sprocket hole. Upon removal of the head I noticed the pistons were not stock. I run Mobil 1 15w40 and was under the impression that its bad to switch from full synthetic to conventional. My non water cooled turbo burns the oil pretty good.

If I use conventional oil its mostly change when its "no good" (i change mine around 2k-2.5k miles)

as stated...turbo oil seal.
- pull the turbo off and inspect the exhaust wheel. If there is sign of oil then pow there ya go.

if not

- then check the exhaust ports for oil

if it eases your mind I'm getting 130psi across all cylinders with 9.1:1 pistons....need to check them again honestly

To answer your PM from zilvia, I haven't made it to a dyno yet. I'm going to attend a dyno day on Dec 3 so I can see where I'm TRUELY at. I just figured 400hp due to most people running these turbos are touching 400+ @20psi

the top port on the wastegate is left to vent (its for electronic boost controllers).

If your brake light and battery light are on then its alternator going out. Mine is currently "buzzing" whenever I lift of the gas. If neither light is on I would check the alternator or grounds

when you say it wont rev, do you mean it wont rev past 3.5k or it literally just wont rev.

if it wont rev past 3k then its maf related.

Push-in type calipers: have a cup-like piston
Twist-in type calipers: have a piston with 4 indents on them. use a set of needle nose pliers or get the tool used for twist in piston calipers (clockwise = in, counter-clockwise = out)

Wish I seen this sooner, would have told you to go to Lowes and get that 90deg fitting s1495 has for like $3/$4. I use the same fitting on mine.

I noticed this myself that certain stations in my area cause my car to hiccup.

I guess you don't want ur turbo coolant lines showing, but I say tap the thermostat housing for the feed and use the block drain outlet as a return. You will have a constant flow of cool. Coolant.
