Re: New Project: Mild build

... So photo bucket decided to start blocking photos again I guess. Anyways hope everyone is doing well and making good progress on their projects. I have some updates to share: The new motor and trans are in...temporarily. The plan is to get as much "mocked-up" and mounted as possible with the moto...

Re: New Project: Mild build

Project has slowed down a lot- had to figure out some of the supporting components for the engine (as mentioned). Still planning on doing an update video as requested, but will most likely be sometime near the end of next month (July). Engine and trans ARE in though! Today , installed "Serial Nine's...

Re: New Project: Mild build

SERIOUSLY nerve-racking experience taking a cutting wheel to a perfectly fine transmission, lol :D CD00A (basically CD009, but new year so new number ID). After marking the bell housing with a paint marker (using the one casting rib as reference and a tape measure), we used an angle grider w/ cuttin...

Re: New Project: Mild build

. Considered an SR- would also be pretty drop-in and tunable. Already had a tuner and Rebuild shop in mind for the KA24de, so to level the playing field a bit, started looking at shops that do full motor rebuilds and tunes for the 2Jz and LS. Considered just doing an OEM 2jz or LS too. After talking...

Re: New Project: Mild build

WOW, didn't realize how long its been since this thread was updated! Left this thread last time with some what of a "cliff hanger" after mentioning "big changes" are in the works. After the oil starvation incident at Pocono Raceway, I had to figure out what to do with the engine: Rebuild or replace?...

Re: New Project: Mild build

VERY interesting and perplexing finds so far with this engine. Just to preface as to WHY.... This engine has been through some complete rebuilds (full disassembly more than once before) and I was NOT directly involved with the part choice, specs, or final assembly (HUGE mistake, but did this to save...

Not too much has changed with the engine setup; just put the oil cooler back in with a partsshopmax oil filter relocation and plumbed in the accusump with an electronic pressure control valve. Re: New Project: Mild build

There was an autox event on Jefferson Circuit at Summit Point at the end of last year called the "Refrigerator bowl". Its basically a point to point race on the circuit with a cool down section before arriving back at grid. It was a good opportunity to try out some different parts and learn one's ow...

So THANKFULLY there is a "free" option for Photo bucket again; hoping this "free" option continues. So, as a result, time for some updates everyone! Re: ka-t running rich, won’t idle or accelerate

One major thing about these engines (or any really) is to start out with the simplest fix first. Their are many pieces, but all that aside, it really just comes down to fuel and spark. Once one finds out which side the problem is coming from, just start checking off things from the list (starting wi...

Re: Supporting turbo manifold and and cat back

I honestly don't think I have any supports. The manifold is from ETS and was very compact, with the mount flange for the turbo very close to and almost level with the flange going to the block. My guess is that the thick flange and maybe even the thickness of the tubing coupled with the solid exhaus...

I resprayed the "bash-bar" that night and loaded it up in the transport car the the next morning (had the windows down the whole drive because of the fumes, haha). Re: New Project: Mild build

Best thing I did suspension wise is the GK tech bolt on roll center correction kit. My car is very very low and it helped level out the FLCA and keep my tie rods decently level. Maybe take a look into GKtech? Yeah, prob shouldn't have done all I did, haha, oh well...still learning. ----- Small upda...
