Re: 600+ or Bust....Project KA24E(T) Dyno Results!!!!

Yea I needed someone who could really tune nissans and especially KA's. Nothing but Hondas around here. I trailered it there and was on and off the dyno in one day with two tunes. Greaser is a freaking wizard. He's helped me a lot. I bought that dog box off a buddy for a steal. It had 300 miles on i...

Dyno Results in the link at the bottom...Been a long time since I posted on here. Wish this forum had as much traffic as the old days. Just wanted to share my results. It's been a long time coming since joining here in 2008. The ole single cam made 500whp @ 20lbs on 93 and 641whp @ 29lbs on Q16. Tur...

Re: Head lifting issues solved Permenantly!!!

Also wanted to show some proof and ease some thoughts on the washer issue. To duncan351's defense his insert washer idea is incredible and I know that it works but after careful research Im certain the bigger issue here is the actual surface area of the washers. The load is just not spread evenly to...

Re: Head lifting issues solved Permenantly!!!

Can we just drill the block with Milwaukee hammer drill for ARP RB26 head studs, then thread for the 12mm and call it a day or do we need to take the block to have a machine shop do it via drill press? My impact drill seems very true or maybe I could make a jig of sorts to keep it guided in the hol...

Re: Head lifting issues solved Permenantly!!!

I measured a factory head oil galley hole and the stud to get the difference and determine the diameter needed around the stud. Then I measured the 12mm stud and did the math of what drill bit I would need to maintain that same diameter around the stud as was there with the 10mm stud.

Re: Head lifting issues solved Permenantly!!!

Actually the ARP2000s in 12mm have a higher torque value and you have more surface area and less stress on the studs being larger. I had ca625+ 11mm and they torqued to 100 the 12mm RB 2000s torque to 105.

Re: Head lifting issues solved Permenantly!!!

This is my explanation of the head stud situation and video of what my setup looks like. First video just shows the block machined and second video shows them bolted down. You can also see how big the RB26 washers are. I compared them to factory washers which are bigger than the 11mm washers and the...

Re: Head lifting issues solved Permenantly!!!

Apparently everyone has this problem. Z32 guys are using larger washers. Just got done reading a 10 page thread about this issue on 2JZs and 7Ms. Found this on Z1 Motorsports website.

Re: Head lifting issues solved Permenantly!!!

What are your thoughts on 12mm RB26 head studs? I installed mine after issues with time serts. The RB washers just barely fit the entire machined boss on the head. They are obviously much larger and cover more surface area.

Re: 600+ or Bust....Project KA24E(T) Round 2

So just a update on this new setup. As always this car continues to teach me. First off I upgraded to wiseco 10.5:1 pistons to bring the compression ratio in the sohc up to 9:1. I upgraded wrist pistons. Also thanks to Omar at O&J Performance for tracking down some king race bearings for the soh...

Re: Pulled Time Sert threads out with 11mm studs!!!

The inserts pulled out clean. The internal threads in the block were okay. I installed new inserts. Pretty sure I had some bad inserts that weren't hardened correctly. Some of them were different colors. Also did some measuring on the head. The washer and nut bosses on the head were all different de...

It only ripped the threads on the inside of the Sert not the block threads. I messaged my machinist and I'm waiting for a response.

Pulled Time Sert threads out with 11mm studs!!!

Like the title says. I just payed $800 in machine work. Block was machined perectly and Time Serts were installed. I'm running ARP 11mm 625 Plus studs. I torqued the head down in increments to 100ft lbs. They all torqued except one and it ripped the threads right out. I'm pretty disappointed. This h...

As far as Jordan Gladman goes he is a member on here. Not sure what youre asking but he has nothing to do with this build. I built this car from the ground up from day one. I am trying to make FL2K again this year with awesome results. We'll see what happens.

Re: My newest project. KA24E-T with a goal of 450-500hp

Suggestion from experience...your gonna need better studs than the 8740s to hold that head down. When I pushed north of 400hp I had nothing but head lift issues. It is the biggest pain. Im going overkill and changing to CA 625s ARPs this time around. Good luck my friend. Sounds like you have a fun p...

Re: KA24DE mechanically locked timing tensioners

Question...can this be done for a SOHC? I'm changing my setup this spring. This could be useful. I'll need this at 650+ when I got FL2K15 this year. Also what kind of price? I figured a bit cheaper considering I only need one.

Good choice. I've been very happy with my Comp turbo. Excellent transient response, and spool up time. Plus it's fully serviceable, and they stand behind their work. Thats one of the reasons I went with it? I will never buy another Precision Turbo as long as I live. Biggest piece of crap ever. I ca...

600+ or Bust....Project KA24E(T) Dyno Results!!!!

So if you have been on ka-t for any extended amount of time you have surely stumbled upon my SOHC build. At least I hope you have. I started this project back in 2008 with the intent to make one of the sickest SOHC KA's on the street today. In my opinion I accomplished that. This build has been one ...
