Re: S14 JGS Motor Mount Allen Screw help!

Hey cutie pie,

I just installed these on my S13. The allen screws are always at the bottom to prevent the threads from getting trashed in the subframe. They act as stoppers.

The diagram is confusing because it shows the bottom of the mount looking from the top, a "through-view".

Re: Turbo Sizing Concepts Specifically for stock KA's

You can achieve your goals with an S256 .63 exhaust. I got mine from AGP Turbo. Look in the Dyno Results forum for examples. Your biggest challenge will be tuning, the quality and type of fuel, sorting out the PCV to reduce crankcase pressurization, and cooling the air charge sufficiently to not hur...

Re: KA24DE oil pump performance data

Im not sure how lab results from oil used in a modern, naturally aspirated Honda motor correlate to a turbocharged iron block motor with shim on bucket valvetrain. It looks like you used the oil for 11 hours on track + road usage which is pretty daring but I'm not sure how that would compare with hi...

Re: Back in the game- Mild Build KA24DE

I'd consider the K1 rods and Wiseco pistons. They seem to be a happy pair, although I've had good experience with Eagle rods in my build, and re-used them in my new build.

Torque is lower due to cams and turbo.

Nice hp number.

I would be happy with that.

That's awesome.

Looking at the chart it seems like the HP peak is a little low in the RPM range.
Do you think that's a result of the T3 exhaust housing?
What cams are you running?

Correct. Although machining and tuning could've been variables that caused the head to lift.

Re: Ka24det headgasket options

I used a Felpro and half-assed Saturn main 10mm ARPs for 460whp-480whp. It worked but...lifted sometimes. My new motor will have a Cosworth HG and proper KA24DE ARP head studs. For not much more money I think I got a much better setup. If you're not going to get the block and head machined just go w...

The camber bolts you speak of are for the front end only.

I have the SPL arms and they are hella solid. Way overkill for a DD but baller for sure.

The skirts collapse and the roundness and OD changes by a few thou.

Mine were cracked in the same spot.

Call Vic Ellinger at Wiseco and see what he can do for you.

"Clevite" Bearings Made by NDC

My machinist told me Clevite bearings are always stamped on the back with a "Clevite" insignia. Mine were stamped by NDC, but in a Clevite box. So he called his guy at Clevite that said they use NDC for certain low volume applications. I'm not impressed. More reason why you should visit my...

Re: ka24det forged internals build question

The whole point is to put stress on the rings so that they DO seal. If the lord of the rings isn't forced to mate with the bore of babylon the two will never live without properly being broken in and piston.

Re: ka24det forged internals build question

Wiseco recommends adding a thousandth of an inch to the PTW clearance if you're building a race motor with no break-in.

If you have tolerances on the tighter side of Supertech's recomendation that may determine your break-in method.

Re: garrett 50 trim .48 turbine housing 400/300 12 psi creep

The 63 will spool about 3-500 RPM later and give you about 5-7% more power. It would be a better match for your cams and would show bigger gains above 12psi where the 48 starts to really choke. Looks like a strong motor - nice numbers!

Re: ka24det forged internals build question

Perhaps you should do some reading in the ECU Tuning section to get a base tune. A generally accepted method for break-in consists of doing one heat cycle to check for leaks and proper tuning. Don't let it idle for more than necessary. Shut it down and let it cool. Then warm up again and start accel...
