Great work. VE Analyze is awesome. Just do a 1:1 reduction on timing from 26* to get a good base for the boost region. So 1 psi of boost should be 25*, 2 psi 24*, etc? I forget where the stock timing map ends but that's basically what I planned on doing, subtract 1* for every ~7kpa. What about fuel...

Still need to put together a basemap for boost. Once I get something I fell comfortable driving around the block with I'll star...

Small update, things will probably pick up here pretty soon. I pulled the engine a couple weeks ago to fix my leaky front covers, replace the leaking rear main seal, and replace the clutch. Clutch started slipping at my last drift event, it would hold power in a straight line but downshifting 4th to...

Check your eprom chip if you're running a rom tune. Mine got loose once and the fuel pump wouldn't prime.

Checking your harness is also a good idea too.

Whenever I've had an issue with smoke it's been the turbo. Intake and hot side charge piping were always clear, but exhaust seals were bad allowing oil to get burned up. It was never a lot of smoke, but noticeable on decel and at idle. Maybe it's a combination that is causing your issues. It's a lot...

Installed it on my phone yesterday, MS is still sitting in a box in my room though haha.

I like how it uses the phone's accelerometer data so you have gps speed. It's also fun to shake around and see how many g's I can pull while sitting on the couch :D

Any chance you could send me a copy of that tune as well? I've been looking at a few maps to get an idea of what timing to run in boost, but I haven't found a KA specific map yet. My email is chcotrup@ncsu.edu Here's an ignition map my roommate used on his Miata, he can't remember if this was the ac...

My horrible luck continues. Unknown to me, the NPT to AN fitting I was using for my turbo feed had a little mesh screen in it to act as a filter. At some point, probably when I blew the ringlands, that mesh screen stopped a bunch of metal shavings from going into my turbo. It also has prevented oil ...

Great read! Car looks good on track, from the first few pages I know exactly how it is having to miss track days due to motor issues. Seems like you've got everything sorted out nicely though, I can't imagine how hard it must pull!

Sorry, yes, that's a typo. Some cars were set to 15 degrees and some to 10, and we accidentally mixed the directions. Get this one idling at 15 degrees. Alright, 15 it is! Next question: Supakat's diy trigger wheel install thread says to use low/normal when using stock ignition coil, however in bee...

Garret is supposedly releasing a gtx3067 pretty soon. The smaller exhaust housing will allow for a quicker spool time, and since it's a gtx series it will still make great power. It might also be more than your entire budget haha, the gtx turbos are expensive.

Ah ok, that kind of makes sense. I still have a lot of learning to do with Tunerstudio, but your tune is a good way to get to know my way around the program. Let us know when you get your most recent tune uploaded, I'd like to compare it to what I come up with once start messing with mine. Thanks! E...

My Condensed Build Thread (Now With Megasquirt!)

Hey everyone, long time lurker but rare poster. I've been KA-T for a few years now, I've never really had a build thread though. I've considered my car "done" for a while and didn't want to post a finished build all in one post, but I just ordered Megasquirt for it so I figured this was a ...

Just read your thread, especially the MS parts haha. I just ordered the KA PNP myself, I've downloaded your tune and have been checking it out in Tunerstudio, I have a few questions. First of all, how come your fuel VE table never goes above 100%? How are you tuning above 100 kPa? Also your cold sta...

Bumping this thread. The cam timing is fixed, runs a hell of a lot better now, still idles rich though. Kept idling at 10.0, checked o2 sensor voltage and the wire was shorting out so it was reading 0 volts. Ran a new wire with a new sensor, getting .32 volts now but the ecu's switchover point is .4...

It might be a little late to go back to "stock" management, but from my experience it's always easiest to start with something that's guaranteed to work, then start adding/changing things. Is there any way you can find a comparable tune for your setup and at least use those fuel and igniti...

I guess that picture isn't a good one haha. The yellow link for the idler sprocket is exactly 2 teeth away from lining up, but the cams are 1.5 links from lining up. I know they don't line up every time, but they should all at least be on the "front" links rather than 2 "in between&qu...

I happened to be pulling cylinder 2, but it turns out I can pull any combination of 2 cylinders and it keeps running the exact same. New harness is in, no change in how it runs. Yeah, it's a pain but it's next on the list to check. I double checked it when assembling everything, but it's the only thing that I messed with so maybe I'm blind and put it together a tooth off.

If the new harness/distributor/coil don't work I guess I'll take the front covers off and triple check m...
