Re: choosing a standalone.....
Rather than list all the places Nismotronic is discussed, it's easier to just Google Nismotronic . You'll find forums dedicated to Nismotronic. There is also a Nismotronic Facebook page, and you'll find links to instructional videos on Youtube. You can also Download the Demo Software, Base Tunes and...

Re: choosing a standalone.....
Be sure to have a look at the NismotronicSA Tuning Package which will do everything your asking for, and then some. There is also an eTune Service offered to help speed your tuning while learning. The NismotronicSA Help contains lots of details on how it works.

Re: What would pull timing at idle
I believe there is a cat converter warmup retard that is applied under certain conditions during warmup. Also, if your idle rpm is above the target idle rpm setting (like a vacuum leak), the ECU will pull timing to bring the idle speed back down.

Spark from coil but not at plugs sounds like rotor failure.

Well, I don't post a whole lot on the forums, but I do read a lot, and nismotronicSA has caught my attention. I would just like to add my voice to the others by saying that COP functionality on the stock ka24de ecu would be the deciding factor for me. If that was available, nismotronics would have ...

If their measurement is actually in mm, then 0.12mm = 0.0047" and 0.08mm = 0.0031".

Re: What would retard timing when motor gets warm?
Your best bet is NismotronicSA.
It has all tunable tables and constants defined (including IAT and CLT fuel and timing trims) in an easy to use interface with extensive data logging, among many other useful features.

Both high intake air temp (IAT), high water temp (CLT) can retard timing.

Here's a screen shot of my User Control Panel browser preferences. You can see how the width is creating a horizontal scroll bar, which isn't present on other phpBB forums.

With a nice turbo such as the twin scroll GT35R you have picked out, I wouldn't skimp on and buy a sub $200 exhaust manifold. As far as standalone - in my opinion it's well worth it especially once you're investing in the idea of over 400hp. Megasquirt has some great support here locally on the boa...

No, consult is basically the same, regardless of ECU type, and I don't know of any ADX available for consult. My recommendation is the NismotronicSA system.

The latest version of NismotronicSA supports it.
No CAS swap necessary.
Here's a video of it running a turbo KA24E in a pickup: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxxvoSF21V8.
EDIT: I should say "No CAS swap necessary with NismotronicSA" as the CAS disks are different between the E and DE.
