First thing I did was check for boost/vac leaks, it's airtight. Today my plan is to pull the whole rail and check for leaks, then replace my mafs, then replace my ignition coil. Still getting code 55, knock sensor code is 34 so it's not that. Intake noise is extremely loud, almost sounds like the in...

I replaced all the o-rings pretty soon after I started diagnosing, 3 of them had small chunks missing but it didn't seem to run differently after replacing them. I'll pull the whole rail and see if they're still leaking tomorrow. I'm still not sure how pulling plug wires makes no difference in how i...

Running Extremely Rich
Some background info, my wastegate line blew off a few weeks ago so I rebuilt it, I just got the engine back in the car and running yesterday. I went to a 9.0 from 9.5 compression ratio, other than that everything is the exact same. 550cc injectors, z32 mafs, EFI Specialist rom tune. I haven't been ...

Awesome, thanks. As far as head and block surface, should I hit each with some brake cleaner to make sure they are perfectly clean before putting the head on? Block has a light coating of oil from the machine shop and assembly. I don't want anything to interfere with sealing, this will be my first m...

Bumping this thread, I have a few questions. I have a Cosworth head gasket ready to put on, both block and head were machined (not sure what RA though). Guy at 240sx Motoring said to use copper spray on it, my roommate says otherwise. Apparently the copper spray can react with the coating on the gas...

I messed with the set screw on the TB for the throttle plate, it holds a steady idle at 1k now. I'm still pulling all my timing in boost, there's no power at all. Starting with the basics, is is possible I installed the eprom chips incorrectly? It ran fine when it was NA, but there is a lot more loa...

Little update I set my fuel pressure to 32 psi at idle, while doing that my idle dropped below 2000. Once it settles below 2000 it will hold a steady idle. the split second it goes over 2k the idle drops and catches itself at 1500, then it goes back up. If it manages to stop going up before 2k it wi...

Still having the same issue, I've fixed a few things since my last post. I'm focusing only on the idle issue since I'm not driving it until at least one of my problems is fixed. Idle still surges from 1500 to 2000, AFR's are still 11.2 at idle. I've eliminated all vacuum leaks from the system, repla...

I just bolted a bar across the radiator support, both my oil and power steering coolers sit just in front of the radiator. I have ducting above...

Yeah, not sure what would cause it to pull timing like that in boost though. The idle and boost issues are probably related, but right now I'm not seeing how. It could be a vacuum leak at idle which would explain both, but would a boost leak cause my ECU to pull timing to like 4* in boost? Tomorrow'...

Haha I have a spare dizzy, just not with me here at school. I tried 2 other TPSs, the closest I can get to the specified range with the throttle signal closed is .40, anything more and the signal goes from 1 to 0. It idles a little bit better now, after a minute or two it will stay at 1200, AFR's ar...

Idle Problems, Stumbling/Misfire In Boost
Just got my new setup together and I'm having some issues. Components are Precision 5431, 550cc injectors, z32 mafs, EFI Specialist ECU. My idle surges from 1500 around 2000, and it feels like a lot of timing is being pulled throughout the entire rpm range. I've checked my codes and all I'm getting ...

Hey man. Glad you could make it over here. I haven't seen it being very active over on the other side lately. If you're still contemplating keeping the bottom mount setup, I'll hook you up with my old turbo  Haha yeah, the ka-t section over there doesn't get much traffic. I'm definitely keepi...

Yes, the stock mafs maxes out around 280-290 whp. What size injectors are you running? It doesn't matter how well your motor is built, knock is going to kill it, and a surefire way to get knock is to max out either your mafs or injectors. I can tell you that 12 psi on a gt35 is definitely maxing out...

Hey guys, name is Chris, I've been reading threads on here for at least a few years, just never registered. I'm pretty active on Nico, though I pretty much only post in the ka-t section over there. There's a lot of great info on here, so thanks for an awesome forum! I'm studying graphics communicati...
