When you get bearing get both rod and main bearings. Get a FelPro engine gasket set for both the head and block. This will come with your head gasket. With your power goals, stick with stock. There is a gasket set for the head and the block. They come with everything you need and then some. There are some gaskets/o-rings you will not need. They do not come with freeze plugs, if that is what you are asking.

All the one's that I have seen are Aluminum. And I have seen tons.

I would have the blcok checked for cracks, and make sure everything is straight (head, block)

Save your money, do it your self.

Buy a DD. I just did, and that allowed me to park the 240, and now I get to work on the car and not have to worry about getting it running the next day. I can't tell you how many times I went to do something to my car and can't drive it the next day, because I have to wait on a part to come in or so...

They are all great builders from what I have heared and read about. HCR are some really cool guys. I went to their shop to talk to them about building me a motor. From what I saw, they seem like they are great about customer service. The others, I can not say anything about.

I did the same thing. I had to get s13 ecu and wiring harness. I also got a s13 intake, because the one that came with the motor had a hole in it. So I am not sure if you could use the s14 one or not. I would think as long as you had everthing that is OBD1 you should be good.

I have a HUD in my 90 hatch. I got mine out of a 92 coupe, the only thing I did was change out the tach. So I don't see why that would not work.
