Um. did you set the engine to TDC and THEN try to put in the distributor with the rotor a little before post #1, so when the teeth catch the post goes right to post #1?

I "want" to say piston slapping, but because its essentially a newly rebuilt motor makes me say otherwise.

The location of the chip confirms what I "want" to say.

I think who ever you ordered your rings from gave you the wrong ones. I could be wrong though :p

Sava, the ignition system on the Ka is painfully simple. Do your basic tests and check the whole system out. If everything comes back ok, then its most likely your coil going out i guess, but iv never even heard of an internal s14 coil going out. They can get fried by things, but never just failing...

You have air trapped in your coolant system. Jack the front of the car by about 5-10 degrees and then run the car in neutral and rev is through the range. It should burp the system And, are you using straight water? I would use at least some anti freeze. It will decrease the rate of evaporation of ...

depends on how often you are going to be using it.

If a lot, then look more at the cot of blades and the availability of them.

sears have one for like about $250 last time I checked. But its a little short for what I would need :p

Ah, good point. s-14 did you manually retard the timing? I would just loosen the bolt and adjust by playing with the rotation.

I would do a compression test to see if its actually blowing into the crank case.

you drill a hole in the distributor cap in the center and put a screw/bolt in. seriously, its that simple. but then you have to unplug the 2 pin connector on the distributor.

How much piston end gap do you have?

And by resurface, do you mean the block deck? There is no repoint in doing that unless the block is warped. and if done too much, it can throw off you cam timing.

I think there is still air in the system. did you try jacking the front up when you refilled? the KA has a habit of trapping air when level :p. jack it up about 10 degrees and try running the car in neutral, try to run it into boost, like you said when it overheats, and see what happens.

I don't think that its the MAF (although it could be). If it was working fine before disconnecting the hot pipe, then its the safc tune. You need to retune the fuel curve. it should be running rich, but the 13-14 a/f you said before tells me that it is a little on the lean side. What rpm was that ag...

probably an extra gasket thats used on the FWD version :p or even the pathfinder KA. I know the pathfinder KA had a totally different intake manifold.

might want to download the altima KA FSM and look around to make sure.

Did you do a compression test right after you rebuilt it? If it was test and fine then, this shouldn't apply, but it could be that the rings were filed a little too much on that cylinder. idk, i'm guess throwing out ideas. :p

Then its probably your egr valve opening if its still on there. Did you remove it or block it off? And did remove/block off the vacc lines on the bottom of the individual runner? Did you disable your safc, since its running NA.

There are 4 relays to check. "retract relay" 1 is for the left 2 is for the right, and 3 and 4 are for both.

there is another relay inside the motor, but I don't think those are removable.

you're gonna have to "loosen" the radiator to get the condenser out from in front of the radiator.
