it shouldnt be if the engine is under vacuum. Make sure the oring sleeve on the timing cover isnt leaking.

on the thermostat break the little brass wiggle valve thingy and drill out the hole a little bigger and the motor will be more likely to burp itself. wont warm up as fast but it better than dealing with air bubble or not having a cooling system vacuum tool.

stock style composite graphite lead steel gasket should be all you need as long as the manifold flange is flat.
