They're significantly different. Here is what I have been able to find by comparing part numbers and specs on Alldata for a '98 240SX vs a '98 Frontier. Frontiers had 9.2:1 compression, 240SXs had 9.5:1. The pistons are different part numbers, so it's likely the truck piston has a deeper dish on it....

Well, you need a fuel pressure regulator, but the real question is whether the one you have in there is working or not. I'd start by throwing a fuel pressure gauge on there and seeing if the pressure at idle is within specs. If it is, and if EFI Specialists tuned that ECU for 550 cc injectors at sto...

A lot of universal engine management systems can handle eight injectors and run on a MAP sensor (it's actually less common to see one that will run a MAF sensor). The Megasquirt can handle eight injectors pretty easily and gives you a choice between having them kick in abruptly and setting things up...

I was looking into the aem pnp unit for odb2 so I would like to know what these guys can do and if they can make power. A standalone EMS is only as good as the tune that's on it. It's very rare to see two standalone systems with the same feature set make different power if they are tuned equally we...

The eManage is at least as capable as the SAFC, and as others have noted, it can add timing adjustment (which can often mean more for power than fuel adjustment, as long as the fuel is in a range that it won't blow your motor). Megasquirt can be a bit complicated, but if you are looking into it and ...

I've seen one that was highly effective on a 350Z with a monsterous turbo setup, and those are usually a lot tougher to put a standalone on than a 240SX. The biggest potential hang-up is that HKS only allows a few shops to tune it. Not bad if there's someplace like Forged Performance in your area, a...

Yes, the Blaster coil does have to be mounted vertically, like most can coils. There is an epoxy filled version that can sit upside down, but the normal one can leak if mounted sideways. The Blaster may not be that much of an upgrade if you haven't paired it with an MSD 6 box. On its own it may not ...

In theory the lower compression will let you run more timing advance without pinging for a given level of boost. Whether this is going to be an issue - or even will be desirable - is another story, as sometimes the timing can be too advanced without pinging. I don't expect the tune to be very far of...
from what i have seen the ka crank is strong enough, but i would definatly have it knife-edge and balanced ^ based purely on the fact i assume the fwd and rwd cranks are identical, lol A part number search confirms that this the case - Altima and 240SX cranks are the same part number. However, not ...

The mod I'm describing is a bit complicated. Here's what it entails: 1. Disassemble a 1G DSM CAS and pull the shutter wheel out of it. 2. Put the shutter wheel into the KA's distributor. 3. Use MS2/Extra code and the input mods for a DSM combined with a single coil driver output. This gives a somewh...

Depending on the engine, you may sometimes get peak power before you hit knock, especially on race gas. There's a difference between a spark tune that won't blow your engine and a tune that's optimized for peak power. Although with a SAFC you usually have to settle for one that won't blow your engin...

A properly designed engine/cooling system should not require separate tunes for each using the same boost pressure/fuel. Quoted for emphasis. The only time you'd want multiple maps would be if you've got a pump gas and a race gas map or run different parts on the street and at the dragstrip. Two se...

I've seen several 240SX installations that used the stock CAS, both with MS1 and MS2. While there is room for improvement when it comes to accuracy, the CAS is still works reasonably well. A crank trigger is going to be more accurate than a cam driven sensor just because it is a more direct drive, a...

the ones that dont have the MAFS most likely are running a Standalone and have a MAP sensor or are running blowthrough setup Yep, most of your standalone systems will let you remove the MAF in favor of a MAP sensor.
