They're significantly different. Here is what I have been able to find by comparing part numbers and specs on Alldata for a '98 240SX vs a '98 Frontier. Frontiers had 9.2:1 compression, 240SXs had 9.5:1. The pistons are different part numbers, so it's likely the truck piston has a deeper dish on it....

Well, you need a fuel pressure regulator, but the real question is whether the one you have in there is working or not. I'd start by throwing a fuel pressure gauge on there and seeing if the pressure at idle is within specs. If it is, and if EFI Specialists tuned that ECU for 550 cc injectors at sto...

The device from Jeg's definitely looks like an industrial compressed air filter to me, although they may have tried to fancy it up with a billet base. If you go to mcmaster.com and search for "air filter," you will find the same thing for around $30.

A lot of universal engine management systems can handle eight injectors and run on a MAP sensor (it's actually less common to see one that will run a MAF sensor). The Megasquirt can handle eight injectors pretty easily and gives you a choice between having them kick in abruptly and setting things up...

The eManage is at least as capable as the SAFC, and as others have noted, it can add timing adjustment (which can often mean more for power than fuel adjustment, as long as the fuel is in a range that it won't blow your motor). Megasquirt can be a bit complicated, but if you are looking into it and ...

I've seen one that was highly effective on a 350Z with a monsterous turbo setup, and those are usually a lot tougher to put a standalone on than a 240SX. The biggest potential hang-up is that HKS only allows a few shops to tune it. Not bad if there's someplace like Forged Performance in your area, a...

The only real measure if your AFR is wrong or right at idle is if you can get a smooth idle and that in theory the best AFR will pull the most vacuum. If it is idling happily at that AFR, not shaking or stuttering, I would see no reason to change it.

It's not much different, other than that it can be a bit tricky to wire up the stock ignitor and most users have been running an external coil. The only real difference as far as Megasquirt is concerned is the wiring pinout.

It sounds like you've got a misfire at idle - most sequential fire setups will idle at 14.7:1, and batch fire systems often are a little richer. The rule of thumb we usually go by is "just rich enough to make it run smoothly." A misfire will create a false lean reading, and I suspect that'...

In theory the lower compression will let you run more timing advance without pinging for a given level of boost. Whether this is going to be an issue - or even will be desirable - is another story, as sometimes the timing can be too advanced without pinging. I don't expect the tune to be very far of...

Depending on the engine, you may sometimes get peak power before you hit knock, especially on race gas. There's a difference between a spark tune that won't blow your engine and a tune that's optimized for peak power. Although with a SAFC you usually have to settle for one that won't blow your engin...

Agreed. The best way would be to fix the tune, but you might be able to remedy this by decreasing your fuel pressure as you're running rich across the board.

The injectors on this car draw power straight from the ECCS relay. If they aren't getting 12 volt power with the key on but the ECU is functional, I would check the wiring to the injectors as there's not much that can produce this symptom besides damage to the wiring.
