Well, in the case of a SOHC motor you can bet that the SOHC head, single cam shaft and lesser amount of gearing/chains etc is going to easily make up for that 28lbs. The DOHC head and cams will be similar, but having cam over valve should save some weight over the SR's rockers etc. The cranks, I wou...

KA block weight, for the records
I was asking about this a while ago and couldnt get an answer. For the record, a stripped KA block weighs: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v133/black240sx/54ea9f23.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v133/black240sx/322fbf80.jpg An SR block weighed 67lbs. As far as I can see the only difference ...

IMO you wont have any safety factor at those power levels with cryo treated stock pistons. If anything goes wrong, you're done. To give an example of what a forged block can take, I daily @ 25psi, I boost spiked past 35psi for an entire 4th gear pull, blew up all my spark plugs, lifted the head and ...

I asked for the sheet included with wiseco pistons and got the information. Wasnt interested in peoples speculation. All I wanted to see what the called for bore size for their +.040 pistons and the clearance specs, this is all the info I need to get the block machined/honed. I was worried that some...

I've worked in a machine shop for the last 6 years, there is no way in hell Wiseco is selling pistons that arent within .0001 of what they say they are going to be. Neither I, nor the machine shop I will use will likely possess equipment capable of even measuring how close most piston manufacturers ...

He will know... based on the measurement given by wiseco! Is there not a single person who is going to respond to this thread who has actually purchased wiseco's and used them for themselves? My CP's came with a little print out on the piston diameters, and what the bores should be respectively. I j...

To give the stock head some credit, i was running it to 7500k on occation without any problems. There may have been some float but nothing I noticed and power was still wicked. I should have my pioneer valve springs this week for my new head, but I still wont be doing mech lifters, the hydraulic one...

Just to explain my thinking.. you can only assume the pistons are going to be the right size. Given the equipment theyre using, a tolerance for a small aluminum rounded part is going to be in the tens of thousands. So its pretty safe to assume the pistons will be 90mm +- .0005 at most. So if I tell ...

I've seen a few knife edges cranks, they werent machined, they were ground. The leading edge of the counter weight was sharpened to cut through the windage/oil. If you have access to balancing equipment, you just need an angle grinder and a couple hours. I personally wouldnt do it though. Seems like...

For people running Wisecos...
I ordered a set of .040" oversized Wiseco's, they probably wont be here til next week but I want to have my block machined for when they get here. Can anyone confirm that the bore specs will be fairly exact to 90mm/3.543". I know my CP's were bang on their specs, just wanted to make sure t...
