Re: Second Dead Oil Pump?!?
I wonder if the machining done to the aftermarket front cover is different versus what the OEM does for the OEM gears. Maybe compare the gear dimensions (especially the thickness) when you have everything apart? My thought would be that they just get the gears from the same supplier but maybe not. F...

I still lurk and check in when I can and I will likely keep doing so for as long as I tinker around on my 240. Speaking of restoring...I'm going to need to start replacing weather stripping and door seals soon... Some of that is getting pretty tired looking on my car. Is that what you are doing or j...

Are you sure the crank is spinning in the right direction? :icon-mrgreen: Is the pickup screen clear? Any cracks in the pickup tube? Gasket and flange is good? Might want to see if the flange has a "U" to it. The scoring could be enough that if your oil bleeds down and air gets into the pu...

Re: Wild afr fluctuations at WOT
If AFR is unsteady at WOT only that is not an indication that your AFR sensor is having an issue. It is related to load and is likely due to combustion variation. Try gapping down your plugs real close and read them to see if only one cylinder is going leaner than the others (in case an injector is ...

Re: Coil On Plug Conversion for Stock ECU
As it is coded now no it always expects a spark because the nissan ecu normally always sends one.
I have an idea of how to remedy that but I don't have an ecu with that feature to test and debug on.

Welcome to the forum! Worst case leave the wastegate open as you learn to wrench on the car and figure out how everything works. I would have loved to have bought a turbo car as my first car! Some tips with injectors: 550 and under usually have a stock spray pattern. This means it can idle great. Do...

Re: Coil On Plug Conversion for Stock ECU
I'm in Michigan so there is probably less snow here but my garage is 38F inside. I don't wrench on or drive the 240 in the winter. I did start it over the weekend and the LS coils allow the car to idle ice cold with no cold start valve. That's something the stock coil couldn't do without giving it a...

Re: Coil On Plug Conversion for Stock ECU
Glad you it got it running with the converter. It was interesting doing the testing to map out the dwell on those maxima coils. I learned that the 01 coils were more powerful but also easier to burn out than the 98 ones. I think the stock coil power routes through the key cylinder (ignition switch) ...

Re: Oil pressure while cranking?
Same here never built oil enough pressure when cranking to turn the oil light off. A million years ago when I had the motor built we packed the oil pump with grease along with installing new bearings with assembly lube and that didn't help. The pump must need 500rpm or so to outflow the bearings thr...

Re: p00t's long winded journal from the beginning of time
I'm on the bigger Z32 aluminum brakes all around. Split point on the master for that car is ~350psi while I am at 500 (adds to the problem). So Z32 front and s14 rear brakes? If you get the Z32 rear you might not have to change your master but there still might be a tiny bit too much up front. Might...

Re: p00t's long winded journal from the beginning of time
I'm on a 10 mm spacer upfront to clear the strut. No rubbing on the strut so far with this setup. The tires are actually RS3... maybe V1s? But yeah they "communicate" well. Interesting how a track oriented car comes with silent tires... Might as well turn the music up! I would think you wo...

Super jealous. I'd hoped to be at the track in my S14 right about now. You running an accu-sump on your oil system? I saw what you said about your brake bias issue, but, what anti-sway bar setup are you running out of curiosity? I know, completely different chassis but would you say the car tends t...

Re: p00t's long winded journal from the beginning of time
Another track day at Waterford Hills in June. Only difference since last time was an oil restrictor added to the turbo to help with my sputtering issue which I think is oil related. There was an improvement so I am more confident I am after the right culprit. I ran the same oil as last time which is...

Re: Adam's formerly supercharged... now soon-to-be-turbo'd, S14
Most of the sensor circuits like the MAF on our cars has 100 kohm pull down or up which is good to use. Basically you want to pull the ADC line down enough so it is 0v reading. But you dont pull/push so strong that it changes the signal. So if you used 100 ohm for example your sensor might only be a...

Re: How to run LS1 Coils
The CAS disc isn't linked to the coils. Only to the stand alone. Specifically AEM's v1 and v2 standalone that everyone used. Basically the hardware isn't fast enough to keep up with the resolution of the standard CAS disc. So you need it regardless of what you are doing if you have an AEM. You can r...

Great numbers and nice build. What was different between the ebay turbo and the Borgwarner?
Definitely worth letting it wind up to 7k by the looks of it.

Re: How to run LS1 Coils
I had a similar issue with the coils seeming kinda weak and not much of an improvement over the stock system. Then I decided to wire the power source for the coils directly to the battery in conjunction with a fused relay system. I ended up being able to run 18 psi on a .40 gap with a t28. These ca...

You have the right CAS disk installed?
Might want to start a different thread about the issue you are having.
Either way you'll like the LS coils if you make the jump but get the issue straightened out first.

Re: How to run LS1 Coils
Depends on a few factors. If you are already running a standalone (megasquirt or AEM) then it's "only" the cost of coils, ignition wires, and wiring. I recommend just purchasing a full used set from a V8 that comes with the harness connectors and then you have spares (or sell the other 4)....

I don't think you should have a problem with those "losing" the tune. Should be saved to an eeprom chip on both (good for something like 100 years and 10,000 flashes)
