Also, for the long bolt that connects the alternator to the lower bracket, the normal locking nut gets in the way of the bottom bolt of the bracket. If you guys see in r@mon's 8th picture, he uses a slimmer locking nut. I personally was lazy and just didn't put a 3rd bolt in. You guys think it will ...

also I weighed everything in this ghetto bag and it weight around 20-25lbs without the fluid. I also did not include the hardlines. This wasn't a very good scale neither so I'm not sure how accurate it is. I know wikipedia and stuff has the numbers also but I just wanted to give my input as well. Go...

sorry to bump an old thread but I just wanted to say I finished doing this today and it works great. The engine bay is so much cleaner now. I didn't get a chance to drive it much because the car is stuck behind a bunch of other cars. But I did move it back into my garage at very slow pace and the st...

Kittykat, first off sorry for thread jacking. ATP turbos are a little on the expensive side. But as a little side note, lots of times I go to them personally and they are always willing to cut the price down or at least kill the tax. But that's just me being local. Check out cheapturbo.com or even f...

with $500 a month into the project. Don't go with a rebuild. The stock internals can handle it if you do everything right. This way, if you blow a motor by making a amatuer mistake you can just swap in another $200 motor.

Also, consider nitrous for cheaper fun.

Cory you're too smart to be having someone tune for you. Take the first class at efi university at efi101.com. They offer more than the $450 class as well but that's all you need IMO. You do get a lot of basics that's a little blah but the best part is you get to ask the most advanced questions you ...

I've had leaning out issues with DW injectors as well. But, I can't say 100% sure because I didn't rewire my fuelpump with a relay. I wonder though if DW are slow to open then would peak and hold drivers help. Overall though I'm not going to go back to DW injectors. However, nismo/tomei etc injector...

Personally, i just don't see how the existing valve cover breather and replacing the PCV valve with a free flowing nipple running to atmosphere isn't enough to prevent pressure from building in the crank case. You should do a do a back to back dyno comparison between a stock valve cover and a modif...

Brad - how are you going to tap the block? I read an interesting post back then but I forgot who it was from. Essentially, the cold pipe would pressurize the valve cover to feed clean air. Next, a line will be ran from the block (which is tapped) to a catch can. Finally, the turbos intake will be ho...

They are not as strong as the pistons. Although, most people detonate enough to break pistons before rods. Rods are typically only broken when you have made a lot of torque with no detonation or have extremely high inertial loads on the engine IE high RPM operation. This is why I was inquiring abou...

my ebay wastegate didn't hold boost for nothing. It kept creeping to 25psi all day. I opened it up and put in a 8psi from a Tial wastegate and it still did the same thing. I blew my motor after a ton of abuse trying to get it to work (really proved to me how stout the KA was). I bought a brand new T...

don't cheap out on clutches. It's worth it, especially with a brand like ACT. I had CM stage 5. At first I liked it. Now I hate it. I want a clutch that I can slip and is made to slip. 02 sensors are really lambda sensors so that's why it's better off to just use its original intent. Especially if someone is using auxiliary injection. AFR's does have its benefits sometimes if you use formulas but lots of times tuner don't use formulas if you've been doing it for a while. As far as...

it really depends what you're goal is. Drag racers don't really care about fuel effeciency that much so as long as it's not blowing black smoke..you're fine. AFR has very little to do with power gains. The only time where AFR's come into play for power is when you pass the border of being too lean o...

AFR's usually range to 1% power when messing with it so it's not a way to extract big power. However I will note that when dealing with "correct" AFR's, that there is a wall breaking point where the power will drop dramatically. As long as you're in the safe zone where your thermal control...
