Re: ka-t wont run
Ok, before you started this build? Was this engine in good running condition? Whats the milage? Compression / Leak down results? Age of sensors, harness plugs and wires? Whats the condition of the vacuum hoses? Ignition system? Timing both cam and base set right? Exhaust system, no leaks? I only ask...

Re: Battery tray cutting for cold pipe
4" saw is what I used, then sanded, and treated with Por-15/paint, used a car door edge "bump" guard to line it.. Larger holes helps to clear clamps, couplers, and wiggle the pipe in & out.. Take care and beware of that battery tray area, and drivers side cuts, those are famous ru...

Re: Wheel tire combo?
When I had my HB, toyota 4x4 stocks were nice, 16x7, hella flush offset (lol!) combined that with some good rubber.. Wheel & tire Traction depends mostly on contact patch size and rubber quality. Couple of dudes ran those fat heavy chrome caddy wheels those worked also, for some reason they were...

Re: Wastegate won't stay closed.
This is a famous problem with custom set ups.. I have ran my pressure source lines from after throttle body manifold ports, never gave me a problem... There is a pressure drop with intercoolers from ebay/china... Did you do a boost leak test? Pressure test the wastegate also... Check the spring too!...

Re: INFAMOUS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT
To the OP, on my Frontier, the EVAP problem was a leak from the purge control solenoid, got it from a wrecking yard pick and pull, check e-bay those things are not cheap, I also replaced the canister too! I have heard the ECU harness also giving this problem... But mostly on the 4x4's where mud and ...

Re: INFAMOUS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT
Should be on the rear, left side/passenger side (looking in) of the engine.. A small stack of vac hoses leading from the intake manifold to three sensors will point you in the right direction. Its a strange looking Map sensor, mounted under a plate.

Re: KA bogging! Helppp possible tps sensor
Yeah, looks like your testing it using the OHMS method. Never had luck with that... Test and set it by volts, key on engine off. .45-.50v closed, 4.30-5.0v wide open. Not sure if S14's use the TPS as a idle switch also... But on S13's the idle switch signal will cause weird idle and low RPM bog if n...

There was an old post from a member here that used 2 10mmX15mmX2.5 fuel injector orings, and lots of grease.... DSM/Supra lovers do this all the time. BE VERY CAREFUL! PLEASE CHECK TB RETURN OPERATION IF YOU DO THIS! Problem is all throttle bodies will eventually leak with age. My TB personally has ...

If you suspect the TPS check voltage to FSM specs, sounds a bit like harness trouble if vac leaks check out good.

Ahh the old "freshen up tha block" job.. Yeah, check the crank/deck/head and make sure all are to specs... plasi-gauge also! If its a engine with a lot of miles? Might as well do a Complete rebuild (oil/water pumps/ timing chain kit/ seals, gaskets etc...) and then you just have to concent...

Did you get it? With the lower snap ring in place, Bearing, second snap, you will have to line up the ring Perfectly on the shaft to slip in to the middle casing. I just pushed slowly, adding force slowly till it popped in. I used a couple of writeups with huge pic's. I forgot the links though. Try ...

All my Turbonetics had oil restrictors built in, if thats what you mean? Some also have filter screens. On my last set up, I simply removed it, and added a aftermarket plate and restrictor minus the screen. Id really call them to ask though.

NGR Type-S blow off valve. Solid, leak free, no hassles for me. Had a genuine type s, and RZ, this in a performance and lasting aspect beats it by far. Blows off with just 12-19 vac, but wont leak during idle. But as with any blow off, it has a sound that you may or may not like.

When mine did that, it was a bad turbine shaft. No smoke, no strange sounds, just lower boost here and there. Look from the downpipe side in the turbine, use a flashlight, look for scraping. But yeah, hopefully a boost leak for you.

Cxracing made some pretty cool parts for going turbo on Frontiers. Also a nifty cap to make custom intakes on the strange intakes we have. I say, piece it together using some of the parts they have, with additions to a good solid turbo and a tune!

Check everything on the ECU/check engine light circuit, look in the fsm for a diagram to help trace it. Ive never heard of a ECU that gave problems this way but better to not rule it out.
