I'm no guru but IIRC, Dave Coleman or Josh reported it was about 1.5% increase in power for every 10* drop in temperature. Not sure if this helped or not, this was out of SCC back when it was informative:)

The coil on plug setup sounds really interesting....Nice to see a company w/a big Nissan history working on the KA some!

:)I know. At first I was thinking more along the lines of powdercoating and if could withstand the abuse underneath. The second part was the biggest concern of whether or not over time, the paint will start to be eaten away as the VC develops residue from age/leaks where the painted part meets the g...

Just a quick question for the DIY guys that painted their own: Do any of you paint the underside as well? I'm assuming that you don't due to oil sloshing around and eating up/stripping the paint which then gunks up the engine. Anyway, if you don't paint the entire thing top to bottom, does the paint...

If you're smelling gas out of the exhaust then you MAF connector may be loose...seems to be a common issue on the KA. Check the plugs and see if they smell like gas...

Make sure you don't have a fuel filter/line leak from a loose clamp or something or even a loose gas cap....

Maybe I'm oversimplifying things but with the 240 having a 9.5 CR and the Altima a 9.2 CR, you might be onto something. I never really understood the reason behind the measly difference in CR between the 2 especially when it only worked out to a supposed 5 hp between the cars. I'm surprised Nissan e...

Gorgeous interior....that last shot looks like it's out of some tuner mag, pretty professional looking. BTW, did you actually replace the dash and where'd you get it from in such good shape? I'm thinking about pulling mine in my '93 Altima, the soft 'pleather' is great but the sun has deformed a few...

Basically meaning among others things that weren't pertinent to the funky timing issue...such as, swapped the AC bracket over, EGR pipe and other odds and ends... Acutally my main concern was that the chain had somehow jumped but that's pretty much ruled out since we never touched the engine other t...

That makes me feel much better anyway....I just don't see how the cam timing could be off since the only thing that was done between the 2 engines was swap the '93 intake manifold, distributor and thermostat/coolant lines basically. Regarding the distributor, other than the 360 slits on the metal di...

Thanks Cory....I'm really hoping the timing chain didn't jump. Questtion though, a mechanic friend said my draining the oil may have caused a loss in tension on the chain. But if that's the case, that wouldn't be any different from any other time that you change the oil, so I don't see how that coul...

Replaced engine, timing screwed up?

Hey guys, I just swapped out my 252k '93 KA24DE in my Altima for a slightly newer 30k 2000 engine that will get a T28 toward the end of the year. I may have screwed up the timing from getting in a hurry and not thinking. After dropping the '00 KA in, I decided to use the free morning to button the w...

Well unfortunately I went ahead and used the felpro gasket due to time...I didn't have time to wait for the gasket to ship since my work vehicle has developed a tranny limp mode issue (Grand Voyager, who knew? ) Interestingly enough, the gasket that came off the 2000 engine (that's going into...

Well that's why I posted this here because I couldn't seem to find hardly any intake gasket failure threads anywhere when dealing with the 240s KA....wasn't sure if it just wasn't discussed, RWD layout of the engine kept things cooler, or what.... Regarding the OEM gaskets, the intake manifold to he...

Thanks alot for the feedback guys...My main interest was due to the advertised heat reduction but also the potential higher resistance to deterioration from heat and even oil contamination, On the Altima, the distibutor is notorious for leaking over time at the base and seems to weep toward the back...

Plastic intake manifold gaskets?

Hey guys, I'm not turbo yet but thought I'd ask here since you guys push the envelope when it comes to engine reliability, power and heat. Intake manifold gaskets seem to be a problem issue, especially w/the FWD KA24DE (always at #4 cyl). I noticed some plastic intake manifold gaskets/spacers (5mm) ...

Don't Mustangs tend to dyno about 10-15% less than typical DJ248s?

Could that account for the lower than anticipated numbers?

I'm not turboed, but on my '93 Alty, I've noticed that of the numerous times I had rough idle/stalling issues, the MAF connector was loose. I ended up using zip ties to keep it tight. Another culprit could be the distributor/CAS.... My headgasket just developed a leak after the wife let it run past ...

Perhaps tightly wrap the bearing w/duct tape or something heavy if you don't have steady hands to give you a guide/fence....?
