Drilled rotors are designed to crack.

I think the full 300z aluminum caliper F/R setup is the only thing worth doing if you aren't going to do a wilwood BBK or better.

I would also look for one of those brackets that lets you use the 350z track rotors.

Oil backing up in the return line could certainly cause that type of issue. With checking the downpipe, I think it is more important to check it after only a few seconds of idling. If the downpipe gets hot, it will just burn any oil off. If the issue is gone, I would just leave everything alone unti...

I wouldn't necessarily run it permanently without a thermostat. I duct my radiators very well so the car would probably never heat up. It is just an easy way to eliminate the thermostat as an issue and it can tell you how well your cooling system performs if you do it and run the car very hard.

You could try removing the thermostat to eliminate it as a cause. If the problem goes away, then it is thermostat/air bubble related.

i've had some serious rod knock and thrown rods out of the block, but never really taken out a chhunk off of it like that, usually its just a hole here and there. some serious ****, lol i'd say that 21-22 psi spike did it, not only was it more than likely detonating but it was just too much force f...

I have. It simply required cleaning the head and block a lot using a rag, razor blade, and brake parts cleaner. The stock finish is very smooth. I also use two coats of copper spray-a-gasket. I have reused a cometic gasket six times. Then, I bought another one and reused it once. I never had any of ...

If you are using water alone, just make sure you are using distilled water. And it would probably be a good idea to add some type of anti-corrosive like water wetter or a little bit of ethylene glycol.

Pretty much. There is also a fee for a new tag that is like $225 IIRC. I'd bring the usuals IE Title, proof of insurance, drivers license and military ID. I think you can register it in Massachusetts as well online since you are military.

I would probably just want to test the normal stuff like compression(leakdown if possible), launch the car a couple of times and ensure that it shifts smoothly. I would probably have him launch the car a few times just in case it breaks. Anything else should be a relatively easy fix and should work ...

No specific DSM experience, but a lot of turbo/road racing experience.

Do you have a boost gauge on the car? Or a wideband?

Mace is a really popular tuner in general, but specifically with the Honda guys.

Yea that 232 is killing you for top end. It gives you a fat gain right around spool up/full boost though.

Stage 6 is typically pretty popular.

You should be able to run a **** ton of boost on pump fuel. The combustion chamber design is so awesome on 4Gs. It isn't uncommon for Evos to run 28psi on pump gas.

I used to live in Jacksonville when I was in the Navy. I live in Gainesville now.

Cometic head gaskets are typically sold at stock thickness. You remove layers to make them thinner and you can request extra layers to make them thicker. I hope you turn the engine over by hand after a rebuild anyways, right? I think you are detonating a little. Is it possible that you are leaning o...

Start with these: Tune. Recheck AFR and timing values. When you have the engine apart, check the combustion chamber and the block for any overhanging sharp burrs left from machining. File them down CleanCleanClean the head and block surface Measure your fasteners for "necking down" IE stre...

Try a Cometic. When you do, make sure you prep the head and block very well. I used one Cometic six times and then used the second Cometic twice. I never had the block(s) or the head(s) machined. Spend a little time with a razor blade, some rags, and some brake parts cleaner and clean the heck out o...

Well if it is the turbo oil seals, it should leak horribly once RPM is above idle due to an increase in oil pressure. It would also get worse as oil temps increase due to a decrease in oil viscosity.

I think it just takes some time for the exhaust to heat up and start burning the oil. A good check may be to start the car for a few moments and then disconnect the downpipe. Check and see if there is oil. You may also be able to find some in the charge pipe if oil is also leaking past the compresso...
