It could be that the way you built your circuit was feeding so much power to the coils that the voltage would dip unacceptably low. Try a 100 ohm resistor inline with the spark outputs.

Going low vs going high refers to what the MegaSquirt is doing at the processor pins. Some output circuits reverse what actually happens to the signal by the time it makes it to the harness. The MegaSquirt CPU is not aware of what circuitry may be downstream of the processor pins.

There's two parts to the MSPNP knock circuit. 1. A headphone output that lets you listen to the filtered knock signal. It will show up as a high pitched almost beeping sound through the filter. That circuit needs to be set to going low.

The MSPNP is set up so that "Going high" means it sends a 0 volt signal when off and 5 volts when dwelling the coil. Some circuits in the MS1/Extra manual use the opposite logic.

We are using a variant of the "5V pull up to fire" circuit that has been adapted to the MicroSquirt Module and has a 22 ohm resistor added inline to prevent killing the transistor if the output is shorted to ground.

As the MSPNP is based on the MicroSquirt Module, it does not quite fit any of these categories. Its output circuit is most closely related to the "5V Pull Up to Fire", but is not an exact match.

This is very engine dependent. But when the VE drops after the torque peak, the cylinder filling is also less efficient. Less cylinder pressure will mean the engine wants more spark advance.

You will need to modify the ECU for two 5 volt logic level outputs.

Either the "5V Pull Up to fire" or "Ground switching" mod on that page can work.

Can you check the resistance across the relay coil? Let me know what you find. It sounds like this relay needs a lot more current than a normal one.

I am using VSS input on my Chevy truck, bringing it in over CAN as I'm using a MicroSquirt to control the transmission. I'm not using direct input to the MS3, but that is supported too. I'd probably use an alternate second trigger input and bring the VSS in over the cam input VR conditioner.

Something is fishy. Can you check the MAP sensor output voltage at the "EXT MAP" jumper with the key on and engine off?

We never used the MPX4115 as a MAP sensor in the MSPNP line. It's only used as the baro sensor.

It needs to be loaded with the MSPNP firmware version, not the MicroSquirt Module version.

Start with the MSPNP base map, scaled for your injectors, and swap the idle control from inverted to normal - that should be pretty close.

The MS wiring just needs constant power, switched power, ground, and a fuel pump connection to function. You would also want to wire up the tachometer to it.

The REF signal should go from 0 to 12 volts and back again. You may need to spin the distributor slowly to be able to see the individual pulses.
