2019 update

I hope everyone still has their projects going! It's been pretty quiet around here :eusa-think: Some changes since last time: - New DD - New 180 m/h speedo (not MPH lol) - New turbo setup (yes again... SMH) - Methanol Injection (current WIP) - Actual evidence of track usage (wow!) RIP g20 I really l...

Re: KA24DE (NA) swap no start condition.

Glad you at least got it running. Having to turn the FPR down to 10 is aweful. There must be an input causing the ECU to drive the injectors that hard... Do you have consult or similar to see the live data? How are your voltages at the ecu, at the alternator, and at the battery? If your ecu is readi...

Re: KA24DE (NA) swap no start condition.

Sounds like you're heading in the right direction diagnosis-wise. If you unplug injectors and it can momentarily start on carb clean then your ignition is at least good enough to start. Sounds like you need to look at those injectors closer. Are they stock? Does your ecm have a custom tune? The only...

Re: Head gasket issue?

Sounds like the head may be warped and need resurfacing. Check the block (usually okay) and head with a straight edge. Also check for any marks from "aggressive" sanding/cleaning on the head surface. I would give the the cometic one last try after addressing the head. Many people are able ...

Re: Head gasket issue?

I don't see any way around taking the head off. Make note of any headstud nut that feels looser than it should. If you find some take the studs out then clean and tap the threads with an m10 bottoming tap. You need to see the condition of the gasket and cylinder before making any decisions and the h...

Re: Nistune strange injection time issue

When I look at your primary ignition map there are areas flagged for knock detection. I must be missing something else? I'm only bugging you about this because the issues fits if it is at least still using the fuel knock map, which you have zeroed (14.7:1 AFR). This would make it lean until knock we...

Determine which side is not getting the "juice" flowing Take off one of the injector connectors and find the + terminal with a multimeter. Jumper battery + to that terminal. If the car tries starting better with the three injectors and extra power fed to them then you problem is in the wir...

You will make subtle changes to the following in a negative way: driveshaft alignment/angle -> vibration and wear Weight distribution -> more load to the passenger side and higher center of gravity I wouldn't say the drain is bad because it is 90° to the pan. I'm pretty sure my first pan was that wa...

Re: Nistune strange injection time issue

When I look at your tune in tuner pro I see the knock sensor box checked. I am not sure if Nistune handles that differently but it seems odd to me. Do you have another tune with the knock feature enabled or with the secondary maps in place?

Re: Nistune strange injection time issue

What RPM does it happen? It happens at any RPM when apply throttle. Any load I apply at any RPM causes the AFR to go lean and then back to normal. This is an S13 KA24DE which has the SCV Butterflies removed. Maybe the ECU is programmed to pull Fuel to account for the SCV at partial throttle? When I...

Also consider using an N60 maxima MAF. It will give you more stable AFR versus the G70 one and it is less restrictive.

Re: Nistune strange injection time issue

What RPM does it happen? Check your TTPMAX settings versus the logs. Put that whole table to 255 and test again. You can change it later if you want. Your knock maps are zeroed but your knock sensor is ON. Your fuel knock map is super lean... copy the fuel map between primary and secondary. I get th...

Re: Please Help: Injectors Firing Constantly

ECU is dead in the water. EEPROMs are not burned correctly or there is a bad connection between the chips and the daughterboard or the daughterboard and the ECU. Need to look at how you broke things a little closer and repair it. You can usually tell this is going on by putting the key to "run&...

Pretty sure you cant clean them, its a small hole with a diaphragm. Make sure the tubing to it isn't plugged/kinked.

It might be helpful to list the details of the problem, maybe someone has come across it before.

Re: Water/Meth instead of ECU tune?

I'm with Matt on this, learn to tune a little and the injectors won't hurt your MPG at all. Actually you will gain MPG with a little dyno time to dial in your cruise timing and AFR!

Edit: Forgot to mention that you are cruising in top gear 90% of the time, so that's where your MPG concerns are.

My guess is you have an AT TPS but a MT harness. If you are running a manual trans dont worry about it, the ECU uses the TPS signal for idle (<0.52v = TPS closed).

Re: Adam's formerly supercharged... now soon-to-be-turbo'd,

Yeah, I've been told that I'm being too picky about the BOV noise. So, I'll just deal with it. It just really blows the sleeper status, but I'm not sure if recirculating it would even make it any quieter. Will the Bosch plastic valves hold 20+ psi? They are used on cars that run 18psi or so, I have...

Re: Adam's formerly supercharged... now soon-to-be-turbo'd,

Something I found very odd was that when I connected the flex fuel sensor to the BOB and enabled flex fuel in the settings, I see 0.0V on the Data window. However, all 4 of the ADC inputs show the exact same voltage which hovers around 2.0-2.3V. But the thing is, the flex fuel wire is literally the...

Re: Odd Limp mode Z32 MAF troubleshooting

Your MAF can't work without power.

The MAF gets power sourced from the ECCS relay which is what gives your ECU power. So if the car runs that is fine. You need to find out where the break is in the harness or run a new wire from the ECCS relay. Double check wherever you have messed with the wiring.

Pull the injectors one at a time to find out what cylinder is causing it. Check compression on that cylinder, check the injector or replace, check/clean the cap/rotor, swap plug wires or use a spare. Any time you can feel one big miss assume it is not a sensor because sensors feedback into ALL cylin...

Unplug the 4th and 5th gear switches on the transmission and your problem will go away.

Most switches will connect to ground when on. There is no way for the computer to detect if the are unplugged. Electrically they appear just like the switch isn't activated.

If your headstud nuts are getting loose it is probably because the bottom of the threads in the block are full of crap or the last few threads need to be tapped. Next time you are in there get a bottoming tap in 10mmx1.5 and chase the threads all the way down. Clean out the holes with carb clean and...
