as far as KA tranny VS SR tranny

they are identical. The only difference is the bellhousing.

clutches are NOT interchangable between the two motors though.

internals, shifter, etc... are identical

Is it really necessary, or is it a simple plug and play matter versus rewiring and making you...

Are Hardbody and Frontier KA motors interchangable?

I searched everywhere, but couldnt find the answer.

So are they both a direct swap into the S chassis?

Just exploring ideas for a built KA, just in case u can find one cheap

No, I'm not THE JDM RICE, just someone who also drives another very similar car :) Though, this setup is about my newly acquired S14 kouki The thing about boosting the current KA, I wouldn't want to rebuild it. I would just boost it as it is. If I did that, I really dont think 250whp w/ constant bea...

Who's got the longest running/most reliable KA-T?

I'm still debating whether or not to go KA-T or SR. My SR proved to be very reliable even after hard beatings on it, especially from drifting. I'm looking for an equally reliable motor, but I would prefer to go KA-T, just for the sake of doing something different. My KA in my S14 has 61k miles, so t...

I've got an S13 redtop SR in my S13, and from eyeballing it looks like you can almost use the S13 SR hotpipe without any problems since the location looks almost exact, though it might be off a degree or two that way you can buy polished hotpipes with a bov flange already welded for those people who...

My buddy is running a similar setup, but making close to 260whp and using the just the S-AFC as his fuel setup

Great setup though.

Any problems with it whatsoever?

actually its quite simple you litteraly just unbolt the bell housing from the bottom half i took a rubber mallet and tapped it loose. Now all you have are tranyn internal parts. I did the same swap, except, a KA-E tranny internals into my SR housing Its easy. I recommend doing a clutch all at the sa...

The SOHC tranny should be fine. I'm almost sure they bellhousings are the same I did the internals swap from a KA-E to my SR tranny, the only difference was the bellhousing. I'm glad I came across this thread! I just bought a 97 SE, and I need to do the 5 speed conversion. I'm going to find out if a...
