If I was going to do an alum exhaust, Id save it for the last 4-6 feet. go as far as the back of the OEM cat location with steel then finish with alum. I personally toyed with the idea of doing a super light 2" exhaust from the downpipe back and running a cutout at the bottom of the downpipe, t...

Im not saying everyone under a certain age should be limited to a low hp car, im just saying for the majority, they should be limited.

I built my first 300+ hp KA-T when I was 18 and I was fine, but if I had it 2 years earlier, I probably would have killed myself.

As an alternative, I learned a trick where you can use a hack saw and make a relief cut 3-4" long in the pipe and use a pair of t-bolt clamps to hold the pipe in place. This method is cheaper and works quite well with a bit of high temp RTV. PS. The neuspeed exhaust on my S2K is held together l...

Not at all, I've used them a couple times to save some trouble, but I dont bother anymore because flanges are cheaper. You can get them at trucking suppliers, they're used on tractor trailers to hold on their big stacks so you can get them cheap in 3" and 4", $30 each or so IIRC. http://ww...

That wasnt my post, not sure where that is from.

As for flanges, dont bother. You can buy stainless sleeve kits that use a wound up piece of thin gauge stainless and some T-bolt clamps to hold the pipe in place. You basically slide the Ti tube into the sleeve and tighten it in place.

http://www.titaniumjoe.com/ Use titanium. If you're doing an straight pipe exhaust for an S13, you only need 2 bends. You can either miter and tig the tube to get your bends or use stainless corners that the Ti pressure fits into. Either way, you can make a super light exhaust out of Ti and it will ...

You cant TIG aluminum unless you get a high frequency TIG, the cheap scratch start TIGs barely weld steel as it is. I bought a Miller 180 w/ spool gun, works great for welding aluminum. IMO this is one of the cheapest solutions for laying a decent weld on aluminum, anything short of a decent TIG or ...

Let the car cool off and pull the intake manifold and take a look at the valves. When my stem seals were leaking, there would be little pools of oil sitting on all of the intake valves after a shut down. Its possibly you installed a stem seal wrong or one of your valve guides is just too worn out. P...

I swapped them for the 03' machined cobra wheels with 255's in the rear and they dropped to 42lbs with tires, made a huge difference. Lighter is wayyy better. You dont need much, just a decent array of hand tools, a good torque wrench, and maybe some feeler gauges. If you're fitting your own rings, get a decent ring grinder.

Build looks good, good job on the valve cover. If you want me to send you a powder coated one, I can ship it with your manifold.

I ran that turbo once, its pretty awesome for street driving, I dyno'd 253hp and 282tq @ 18psi w/ 460cc injectors. You could probably run the 370s @ 15psi, or higher if you ran meth injection. Only a wideband will tell you how much boost you can run.

I ordered my valve springs from Summit. The part numbers above are good. You CAN replace valve springs and seals without pulling your head, you just have to pull out the cam and use compressed air on the plug hole to keep the valves shut. You have to use one of the spring compressors that does all t...

Good chrome plating shouldnt flake off, so you should be fine. However they are near chrome powders available that you wont have to worry about getting on the inside of the cover. Im not sure what your first sentance means, but basically the tube end of the collector has to have full rounds to weld onto, the turbo side has to miter and meet to fit into your turbo flange. The more acute the angle, the better IMO. Getting pipe to merge into a collector given a certain length with define the angle. Figure out how long your collector CAN be, then draw it up.

^ Not really true, one of the fastest KA's in the world was SOHC. A boosted motor is like a turbine engine, the combustion chamber facilitates the burn, but the turbo is going to define the force behind the flow through the engine. You can build a SOHC to make 700-800whp on gasoline just like a DE s...
