I would also be interested in some info on those aluminum racing seats, I've seen them around, always wondered how they would be on a road course when you're driving for a couple hours in the corners... You can see the aftermarket S14 spindles Matt Powers is running on his formula D car here. http:/...

I just got a vortech charger for my SOHC and was looking over your pics to see how you belted yours. Just thought I'd throw out some advice. http://i476.photobucket.com/albums/rr128/BUBBA060/2011-03-12200427.jpg Most kits would recommended a timing belt for SC operation because of the load put on th...

I wouldnt drive it. A wideband is only $200, I would suggest biting the bullet and just ordering one. If you had an S-AFC I would say try adding and subtracting fuel while its bogging to see if things improve but again, you're just taking shots in the dark. Post some detailed pictures of your engine...

If it was backwards, its because the engine turns twice for ever single rotation of the oil pump shaft. That isnt your problem. Get a wideband, you're pretty much taking shots in the dark if you dont have one, unless you had your ECU tune done on a dyno, its probably miles off. You probably arent re...

I buy ebay exhausts for the cheap tubing and generally pre-layout. I concider ebay exhausts to be pre-tacked for later welding. Get an ebay exhaust, and go over all the welds with a MIG. One of the problems you might be having is ground clearance, the S13 chassis doesnt go very low without scraping ...

Line up the dot on your oil pump output shaft and make sure the motor is at TDC, slide it in super carefully and make sure you dont turn the pump at all when you install it. If the motor is timed correctly, the leading edge of the rotor should be just ahead of the pin on the underside of the cap for...

Just a couple of key points I want to add jus for reference. Centrifugal is an option I seriously considered and would be really cool. I rode in a 400 hp s2k with a rotrex kit and boost felt instant and it was very powerful. Key points: -A roots blower is SIMPLE to install on the ka, so not a disad...

The turbo is off a tractor and apparently built in England, it wont be too easy to dig up info, but it basically looks like a 50 trim with .50 AR compressor and massive turbine housing. You would likely be able to swap on a different .48 or .63 turbine housing which would make it more KA friendly. I...

There is a place for both types. The centrifugal has advantages and disadvantages. Im looking to do something super clean, simple and light weight. The centrifugal also has better output up top, you can balance the bottom end power by overdriving the charger a bit. I think this style charger will be...

Centrifugal is tidier and easier to impliment. Makes running an intercooler 10X easier. You also dont have to do any intake manifold work. A centrifugal super is essentially a belt driven turbo. It has an internal gear set that will multiply the engine RPMs to a speed that is suitable for creating b...

Tried a couple different search terms on google images and found this... looks like you can just bolt on a pulley, this looks like the same charger, you can see the 3 bolt flange behind the pulley that the shaft driven housing mounts too. http://photos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v2413/4/95/569785...

Centrifugal blowers, Vortech V5-F
I spotted a Vortech V5 supercharger on ebay with super low mileage off an SVT focus, they only make 260whp on the focus but can make more with different pulley setups etc. Id like to build a reliable intercooled SOHC-R. Only thing is they are shaft driven, Im sure I can figure out a way to drive the...

Looks super clean... nice work. I'd be tempted to make a stealthy black cover for the SC and get the intercooler anodized black. People will think you're running a 100whp stock SOHC and you'll blow them out of the water. Cool setup. Im actually very tempted to jack your idea for my SOHC S14... it wo...

Your mechanic is smart, a 4G63 out of a FWD DSM would actually be super sick and they're cheap. I would use one of these before a FWD SR20. Talons are a dime a dozen and there is a crap load of aftermarket for them. I would love to know the legality of a vehicle like this in Canada. I would build on...

Slightly KA-T unrelated, but dang this is old. I blew this car up and built my first KA-T a couple months after this was posted...

All valid points. Its hard to compare the 2 when there are 99X more people drifting than actually racing at a course. For me, its going to cost under $300 to race all day at the track and I wont push my car far enough to make crashing likely. If I go to a drift event, Im more likely to blow a motor ...
