Re: First dyno disappointment...
Is it possible you are on the knock maps? Vtec feeling above 4k usually means the knock sensor is pulling timing, it stops pulling timing at 4k i believe.

I like how you post about your small issues. I think this is fairly common to have a lot of small stuff going wrong (i know i did), most people just dont post about it. Maybe they like to make you think everything went together perfectly  I have always learned from this thread as im sure others...

Re: car dies when i move the O2 sensor wire
The wire has certain current going through it telling the ecu the air/fuel mixture. If you ground the sensor wire out on the housing the voltage will drop and the ecu will add fuel so it will run badly.. this also teaches the ecu bad things since it tries to correct the mixture as it goes. Fix it ei...

Ive got an emance chipped ecu that i burn chips for. Mine came with a piece of rubber between the cover and board that holds it firmly in place. Its ghetto but it works. Its about the thickness of an eraser.. might be good to do to yours so it shouldnt be an issue for the new owner. I believe the ec...

If its the UEGO it uses a pre calibrated sensor so theres no setup for it. Sounds like it could be a boost leak.. or did you change the intake piping (air filter and maf) around? 12s while in boost is good.. low 10s not so much. Edit : The stock O2 sensor should be tuning the idle / cruise area once...

Thanks for the permatex thread sealer info, I am really going to go buy a tube. As many people i have a bunch of tiny leaks that should be easy enough to fix. Ill be making a thread about the plastic oil gauge lines that i cant ever seem to get sealed, thats one of the few mysteries which still plag...

The maf needs straight pipe before and after it. perferably at least 12-16 inches from the turbo, and 6-10 inches of pipe before the maf to straighten the airflow out for it. Basically it needs to be in a fairly straight piece of pipe, not on the air filter or turbo. The maf has lots of trouble read...

It will run fine but check your oil, gas gets past the piston rings and your oil gets contaminated quickly. Bearings love to spin when you add a few quarts of gas to your oil. It washes the oil from the crosshatch in the cylinders as well so its not going to help the engine last a long time either. ...

Are you running a restrictor on a journal bearing turbo? Journal bearings love all the oil they can get within reason. You should only restrict it if you have a lot of oil psi and or a huge oil line therefore over oiling it and creating smoke just an FYI Check the play on your turbo when youre in th...

Marcus : it looked ugly as hell until i looked closer lol i dont blame you At first i thought it was a big scratch going down the cylinder but it does look like a drip mark from maybe rust like you said. The cylinder looks ok.. not great but it should still have good compression.. the main thing.. i...

Only half of the exhaust port is oily.. i think it would be safe to assume the valve seal is leaking on that port. Get the head checked out, it may need a valve job reguardless. Good plan... the cover of darkness is great for a smoking car lol Be sure to get on it a few times and heat that b*tch up If you have the option... i'd back the boost down to like 4 or 6 so its safe and be hard on it for a while to get the exhaust really hot. Retarding the timing a few degrees would...

Sounds like the hotter the exhaust gets the more it smokes. Drive it around for a while and get it hot, see if it continues after that. When i put a fresh motor in my ka-t truck i got oil out the exhaust when i got it hot for a few days. It all depends how much oil is in there really. I cracked a pi...
